Kongo vs Struve possible for UFC 156

Responding to a fan's tweet, heavyweights Cheick Kongo (17-8-2 MMA, 10-6-1 UFC) and Stefan Struve (25-5 MMA, 9-3 UFC) today agreed to a fight at UFC 156.

"It would be very exciting 4 the fans & a great challenge for both of us," Kongo wrote on his Twitter account.

Struve's streak means he has more to lose in the potential matchup, which has yet to be confirmed by the UFC. Still, the 24-year-old fighter welcomed the idea of fighting Kongo.

"Great Fight for sure, let's see if they got a spot left for us then!"

The proposed matchup comes three days after the French heavyweight was criticized by UFC President Dana White.

UFC 156 takes place Feb. 2 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The event airs live on pay-per-view and FX. There's no word if Kongo vs. Struve will actually be part of the lineup.

According to Dana, Kongo turned down fights with Cormier and Nelson.

I don't blame Cheick because both guys are a nightmare for him.

Totally disagree, Roy is a winnable fight for any decent HW and he has a name for whatever reason

You really think Kongo would stuff Roy's takedowns ?

I wouldn't pick Kongo against hardly anyone in the division. My point was that Roy Nelson isn't a top 10 heavyweight and is an extremely winnable fight to go along with the fact that his fat ass carries a name with him. Definitely worth the risk

I got Struve in this one, he's looked vastly improved and i really think we've seen the best Kongo to date.
