Solid point on the Bellator champs infiltrating the UFC ranks. Lombard and Alvarez do almost go in carrying the Bellator banner. But losing your best fighters in hope that they can beat the odds and win the UFC belt? Not the gameplan I would go with.
As far as the younger Bellator guys, at some point they need to stop the tide. If Bellator continues to lose it's best guys, the younger guys will only want to follow suit.
I would just think that given what Alvarez has meant to the org, and the timing with Spike, that they would want to draw the line here. Falcao had legal problems in Brazil, he was on a winning streak in the UFC. Mo got busted for roids but he knocked Larkin's ass out and if was active he would likely still be ranked in the top 10. Like I said the reason they aren't in the UFC is not because of performance, it was issues outside of the cage. They are UFC level talent. They weren't scraps IMO because they weren't cast aside do to talent or performance. They both had outside issues.

| but they were both cast aside. Good talent, but this was not Bellator luring top fighters away from the UFC. This is the UFC first saying no, and then Bellator swooping in. | |

IMO it makes a difference that they were not cast out because of performance. They were cast out because they were too much of a hassle. IMO they doesn't make them rejects like someone like Killa B or even Babalu. Guys like Daley, Falcao and Mo were just too much trouble to deal with. If King Mo wasn't so outspoken he would likley be in the UFC and hyped as a contender. If Daley didn't go ass crazy post fight on Kos then he would likely still be in the UFC and still fairly high in the ranks. Falcao was putting wins together and if he didn't have his legal problems who knows where he would be in the ranks by now? IMO that makes a difference. That's why I can't call them rejects. But IMO you can look at how much interest the UFC had before the outside problems came into play with all of them and say they are UFC caliber fighters.

This type of quote will get him in trouble. Just saying. Eh, I don't think it's that bad. No slurs or anything. Cheerleaders bopping up QBs isn't news to anyone.

| Damn I think that means Bellator have matched their offer.
Is Eddie allowed to decline the Bellator offer even if it maches the UFC's ? |

| don't think so...if he didnt want to potentially go back to Bellator he should have waited for the matching period to end or maybe be more forthcoming about his intent. I don't think Eddie cares where he fights...Eddie is all about the bling bling..if it comes from UFC or Bellator, i think he'll be happy.
I don't think it definitely means Bellator matched it...because thats cut and dry and not "ugly"....what can get ugly is if Bellator challenges the value of certain things in a UFC contract that can't be put in a Bellator contract...like PPV points...or if Bellator added different types of incentives that they claim matches PPV points which itself isnt guaranteed and has no official number attached to it.
It seemed PPV points was the big thing in the Lombard contract. Two fights later he co-main events a PPV which did horrible numbers...and as mentioned..he was not the main event. He probably didnt get much PPV points there. I also don't think there is too much PPV points to be had opening up an FX card. So these things are there to smash Bellator hopes of signing fighters but theres a chance it brings little to nothing at all unless Lombard gets to main event a PPV...which isnt likely without Anderson Silva.
That's just a theory though. It could be just vintage Dana hyperbole and it's just his way of saying "they really want to keep him".

- MMA Junkie reported Wednesday that Bellator has matched the UFC's offer to Eddie Alvarez, leaving the decision on what to do next up to Alvarez and Zuffa should they choose to sweeten the pot.
Alvarez (24-3) became a free agent in October following a first round KO win over Patricky Freire, his second straight win after losing his Bellator lightweight title to Michael Chandler in November 2011. He received a formal contract from the UFC several weeks ago, leaving it up to Bjorn Rebney and Spike TV with an opportunity to match per Alvarez's contract.
