| My rib doesn't do scary movies so I've missed out on that genre the last few years. I plan on renting a few this month, but overall horror is very hit or miss.
Give me a few suggestions. I was thinking Cabin in the Woods (heard good things).

| What did you enjoy from the genre last time you really watched anything from it?
As far as current suggestions without knowing how long it's been since you saw anything or what you liked:
Orphan V/H/S Scary Or Die(kind of cheesy but not badly done, don't let the first part fool you) Intruders The Collector Playback

| I'm more intro thriller type, zombies, & shaky camera blair witch style scary movies. Not feeling overly gory ones.
Some of my favorites Saw 1, Paranormal Activity, Shutter Island, Zombieland, Dawn of the Dead, Cloverfield, & The Mist (ending alone).
Also seen Saw 2-4 or 5, Hostel, Cabin Fever, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Hills Have Eyes, The Grudge, & Paranormal Activity 2-3.
That's all I can remember off the top fo my head.

| Try Grave Encounters, Apollo 18, The Last Exorcism, The Devil Inside, and the Poughkeepsie Tapes if you like Found footage movies(Blair Witch Project, Cloverfield). Not much in the way of quality zombie films have come out of late, but for thrillers as opposed to gruesome horror movies see if you can find The Tall Man and Exit Humanity. Also Orphan, Intruders, and VHS are still good options. | |

| I recently watched Orphan on cable...the critique was only 1 star and i thought it was pretty damn good.
I'm more of a fan of the found footage horror myself. I need to see a few of the ones Ludo mentioned. Grave Encounters is the only one i've seen, and it was pretty good. It ripped a lot from the House On Haunted Hill remake but still well done and has some good scares.

| Orphan got some bad reviews but it was easily one of the best pure horror movies of the year in 2009. The story progresses in just the right pace I thought, nothing about it seemed rushed or chalked up to just suspended disbelief, the bases all seemed to be pretty well covered the whole way through. | |
