BoxingScene.com has received confirmation that veteran trainer Naazim Richardson will be working the corner of Sergio Martinez on Saturday night at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas - as Martinez will attempt to capture the WBC middleweight crown from undefeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Martinez is trained by Pablo Sarmiento.

Richardson is best known as the trainer of Bernard Hopkins and Shane Mosley. He is also the man who prevented Felix Trinidad from improperly wrapping his hands before a high-stakes fight with Hopkins in 2001, and Richardson discovered the illegal inserts that were placed in Antonio Margarito's handwraps prior to his fight with Shane Mosley in 2009.

Martinez's longtime adviser, Sampson Lewkowicz, gave a brief explanation on why they brought in Richardson.

"We didn't want to take any chances. We are taking every precaution before this fight. We don't want another Antonio Margarito [incident] to happen. We are taking every measure to ensure that Sergio Martinez receives a fair fight," Lewkowicz told BoxingScene.com.

Richardson will be present when Chavez wraps his hands tomorrow night and he will assist Sarmiento in the corner, says Lewkowicz.

Man really want to see this fight live. Prob wont though. PPV is the worst. There is so much sports on reg TV, who wants to pay $60 to watch a fight?

Will do my best to avoid finding out who won. So I will avoid ESPN tv for the next couple days, and I will avoid this section of NP. So Ali, and everyone else, please keep it quiet on the rest of the board.

I'll try to watch it fresh next week.

i fell asleep and missed the main event

the undercard was at least interesting though so it wasn't a complete waste.

Nice 12th round but Sergio was pitching an 11-round shutout to that point and Chavez just didn't have the killer attitude to get the job done

finally saw it.

I know Sergio's speed was a major hurdle, but Chavez needed to just go out and throw punches. We saw what happens when he did, but he waited way too long.

And whats funny is, despite not throwing, despite getting shut out through 11 rnds, Sergio was still plenty beat up and worn out by the 12th.

And sure Chavez made a stand in the 12th, but in no way do I think that fight warranted an immediate rematch. Let Chavez win a couple fights first, then u might have something. Hopefully the weed charge doesn't keep him on the shelf for too long.
