Brendan Schaub (8-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC) was looking for a fight with Lavar Johnson (17-6 MMA, 2-1 UFC), and he shall get it. In addition, Mike Swick (15-4 MMA, 10-3 UFC) returns and will face Matt Brown (15-11 MMA, 8-5 UFC) at UFC on FOX 5. UFC officials on Monday announced the fights.
UFC on FOX 5 takes place Dec. 8 at KeyArena in Seattle. It will be headlined by a lightweight title fight between champ Benson Henderson and top contender Nate Diaz. The card also features a co-main event of Mauricio "Shogun" Rua vs. Alexander Gustafsson and B.J. Penn vs. Rory MacDonald.
It is not known where Schaub-Johnson or Swick-Brown will fall on the card, though a fourth main-card slot is open for the event, which will get a live broadcast on FOX.
Schaub was on a four-fight streak before dropping consecutive fights to Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Ben Rothwell. Earlier this summer, Schaub told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio) that UFC matchmaker Joe Silva has targeted him for a UFC 154 return in November. Schaub also said he wanted to fight Johnson. He'll get his wish, though he'll have to wait a few extra weeks.
Johnson won back-to-back "Knockout of the Night" awards with stoppages of Joey Beltran at UFC on FOX 2 in January and Pat Barry at UFC on FOX 3 in May. Then he took a short-notice fight against Stefan Struve at UFC 146 in May, just three weeks after his win over Barry, and was submitted in the first round. Now he'll appear on his third FOX card looking to get back in the win column.
Swick earlier this month return to the octagon for the first time since June 2009 and knocked out DaMarques Johnson in the second round of their fight at UFC on FOX 4. Swick won "Knockout of the Night" honors in the fight and snapped a two-fight skid after his long injury layoff. He said he wanted to fight again before the year was out, and he'll get the chance.
Brown less than a year ago was fighting for his UFC life. The welterweight had dropped four of five heading into a February fight with Chris Cope at UFC 143, but he picked up a second-round TKO win. He followed that up with an upset of the highly touted Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson at UFC 145, then a TKO of Luis Ramos at UFC on FX 4 in June to run his streak to three.
The UFC has visited Seattle just once before. That event, March 2011's UFC Fight Night 24, drew an official attendance of 13,741 fans for a $1.2 million live gate.

The injuries and illnesses continue to wreak havoc on UFC on FOX 5's preliminary card. After Brendan Schaub vs. Lavar Johnson was scrapped as the leading prelim fight on FX, Michael Chiesa vs. Marcus LeVesseur became the new "feature fight". As of today that is no longer the case, as Chiesa has been forced off the card according to the UFC's official twitter account.
@UFC TUF Live winner Michael Chiesa forced off Saturday's Seattle card due to illness - get well soon, @MikeMav22
If you're keeping score, that's the 7th different preliminary card change. There's no word on a replacement or if there will even be one on such short notice.
Chiesa won TUF: Live by submitting Al Iaquinta, and the Washingtonian was given a chance to fight on a local UFC show against Rafaello Oliveira, but Oliveira was injured and LeVesseur replaced him. Now it's Chiesa off the card and it likely forces the UFC to reshuffle the bout order yet again.

Atleast the injury bug isn't fucking up the main event or even the main card. Which has been a trend this year it seems. Hell SF lost 2 of it's 3 title fights and that's after canceling an entire card. I'm glad it's happening lower down on the card and not at top.
