http://mmajunkie.com/news/30127/yves-edwards-to-meet-jeremy-stephens-at-ufc-on-fx-5-in-minneapolis.mmaA lightweight fight almost guaranteed to deliver fireworks has been added to UFC on FX 5.
Sources close to the event today told MMAjunkie.com (
www.mmajunkie.com) that Jeremy Stephens (20-8 MMA, 7-6 UFC) vs. Yves Edwards (41-18-1 MMA, 9-6 UFC) has been added to the event, which takes place Oct. 5 at Target Center in Minneapolis.
The main card airs on FX.
Stephens vs. Edwards is likely to be part of the FUEL TV-televised prelims.
Stephens recently came to Edwards' aid when the longtime vet withdrew from UFC on FUEL TV 3 and he posted a losing effort against Donald Cerrone. The setback was the second straight for "Lil Heathen," who previously lost a decision to former WEC champ Anthony Pettis. The veteran's notable victories include knockouts over Rafael dos Anjos and Marcus Davis, as well as a decision over Sam Stout.
Edwards' third stint inside the octagon has been a mixed bag, as well. After returning to the promotion as a short-notice replacement in 2010, he went 2-0 before a KO loss to Stout halted his momentum. Edwards rebounded with a second-round TKO of Rafaello Oliveira at UFC on Versus 6 this past year, but he suffered a decision loss to "The Ultimate Fighter 12" winner Tony Ferguson this past December at The Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale.
MMAWeekly.com first reported the Edwards vs. Stephens fight.
