| Not great for Barao, but I guess this division just got thinner at the top. McDonald is gonna leapfrog him if he beats Torres. | |

| I doubt it. Barao has the next shot with a win here. McDonald just turned 21, there ain't no rush there and I don't think he's ready for it yet anyway. Nice KO over Soto but he definitely could have lost that Cariaso fight. A lot of people had him dropping that one in fact | |

| I think Shelby should of waited a month to see who won the Torres McDonald fight, then had Barao fight the winner. Would make a lot more sense. Hougland can of course win but this still is a huuuge disparity between where these two guys are in the division. | |

| I don't really know much about Hougland but these are the kinds of fights that immediately can add depth to a division should this guy establish himself with a solid performance in a loss, or in a win. | |

They did this because 135 hurts for contenders more than any other division. If Barao would have beat McDonald after Cruz/Faber vs Barao was made what than? The division would have been in limbo. | |

| Barao wouldn't even accept that fight. He would probably retire from the sport if offered it. | |
