Mauricio Rua on Rampage - "We will not retire until we fight again"

When Mauricio “Shogun” Rua first entered into the UFC, one of the most highly anticipated matchups was a rematch between Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and himself. However fate has sent the two fighters on different paths and schedules have yet to line up for one of the most compelling rematches in MMA history.

Both fighters have held Pride and UFC straps at one point in their career and a rematch of their 2005 fight is one that would surely draw huge attention.

At “PRIDE Total Elimination” it was Shogun that dispatched Rampage in the first round with a brutal barrage of knees which led to some fight ending soccer kicks to a downed Jackson.

Yes, a rematch has to happen.

Why does he want Page so much? The first one sided beating he laid on Page was not enough for him?

I'm not opposed, Shogun could probably bring the fight out of Page and make it exciting before he utterly annihilates him.

He'll tap that again. The surgeries have done in Shogun as well but he's still a fighter which is more than can be said for Rampage

If they had fought at any time in the UFC before the Liddell Shogun fight Page would have destroyed him. Page missed the boat on this rematch.

Page vs Shogun would look something like Hendo vs Shogun did.

Page would fucking murder him!

Page would get ruined if they make this rematch. Shogun will kick the fucking shit out of Pages legs and that will open everything else up.

Shogun hasn't thrown a leg kick in the last two fights. Hendo's legs were right there to get savaged for 5 rounds and he did nothing. I don't think he has the spring left for that anymore

Shogun would maul Rampage.

What's next? They've talked about Phil Davis and Rampage Jackson...

I guess it could be one of these guys. I don't discard Ryan Bader nor Rampage, Dan Henderson, Rich Franklin... I guess there are many guys I could fight. Actually, soon I'll know more about it and I'll keep you posted. I'm sure I'll train focused on my opponent and he's going to be a hard one.

Were you surprised by his performance against Ryan Bader?

It's hard to tell because we don't know what happens to each and every fighter. I don't know if he got injured, if he was not feeling ok... It's hard to know, but Rampage is very professional and deserves to be respected.

Out of the guys he mentioned a Hendo rematch is the only one that excites me.

I wouldn't mind a Lil Nog rematch.

I'm excited by Shogun against anybody. Fighter B doesn't matter

Rampage should fight Stanislav Nedkov.

Hard to believe, but Rampage hasn't finished someone since 08 when he KO'd Wand. 5/6 have been decisions. The only one that wasn't was losing to Bones.

Props to Bader though cause that slam would have ended the fight against alot of people.

Rampage should have ran around and jumped into the slam. Bader would have quit.
