| i agree with the notion of crazy talk hahaha.
JDS and overeem are busy and aren't going to be available april/may anyway, but i don't know how you'd class fighting a HW contender with a huge weight advantage as a 'stay busy' fight. that's more a 'leave the ring a bit fucked up even in victory and need six months to recover' kind of fight.

| Come on guys, Fedor by all accounts should be fighting at MW! No way should Hendo fight anyone at HW! Give him Machida if he really wants a fight | |

| Fedor has never cut weight. Fedor is also quite fit regardless of how he looks. He is also used to fighting bigger slower guys with HW skills. He dwarfed Lindland. He got fucked up in the scramble by a smaller faster dude. Fedor at MW is Roganverse noise. | |

| Yep. Just as stupid as all the talk about Nelson or Beltran dropping a weight class. It doesn't even make sense | |

What doesn't make sense is fighting at a weigh class where you are severely undersized. Even Edgar, who walks around close to weight isn't dwarfed like Fedor is. At this point in his career he'd get eaten alive at 205 and 185 because of their speed, but it still doesn't change the fact that fighting Fedor and fighting Overeem are 2 different beasts.

And even if Evans had won but Chael Sonnen had lost his fight on the same night, Henderson might have received a chance at a rematch with middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva. Neither of those scenarios transpired, however, as both Evans and Sonnen won, setting up their own respective title shots. That has left Henderson in a kind of championship purgatory, with no obvious short-term move, according to Dana White."He doesn't want to fight Machida," White said following last night's UFC on FUEL event. "He doesn't want to wait. He's going to have to wait. Who does he want to fight? I don't know what to do with Dan. Dan's either going to have to wait for Jones or wait for Silva. Or fight somebody else."

Dan's response. http://www.mmamania.com/2012/2/17/2804662/dan-henderson-lyoto-machida-dana-white-ufc-mmaFrom Henderson's Twitter: Was never offered machida. And even though he has lost 3 out of his last 4, I'm sure it would be entertaining.

| Machida is a very risky fight for Dan to take when he's on the cusp of a title shot. |

| Machida on paper is a tough fight but what Machida comes in if this fight gets made? The one who was aggressive and taking chances with Jones or the one who waited 12 and a half minutes to do anything against Rampage? Hendo has become very adept at landing that big right hand on guys who are vastly better strikers than himself. Can Machida take that kind of shot and keep coming? It's more likely that a punch like that ends his night or sends him into a panic in which he stops engaging for fear of being laid out. | |

| I dont see the first two rounds of the Rampage fight as enough evidence to say that Machida wont fight like he did in all his other career bouts. It is possible what you suggest but to me much more likely Machida gives a 42 year old Hendo his first KO loss. | |

| Yeah I'm having a hard time believing that Machida has more power and or more killer instinct in him than Shogun, Fedor, and Feijao. The last three guys Hendo fought rocked him but were unable to close the deal, so what evidence is there that Machida is the guy to get it done?
On the flipside of things Machida has fought twice since Rampage. One of those fights was a squash match with Couture where Machida looked less than explosive and even got hit by a few clean shots from Randy. If Randy can hit Machida why can't Dan?

| Machida is also the only guy to win a round with Jones. It isn't about 'DUR HE DONTS POWER N KILLA INSTINCT" as much as a stylistic match up. Machida will be by far harder to hit, and will by far be better able to exploit Dan's open style. Those other three guys were all looking to go to war with Hendo for whatever reason. Machida is still leaps and bounds ahead of the rest of the LHW division. Shogun doesn't look like the Shogun from two years ago anymore so I dont think he above Machida at this point, regardless of their fights years ago.
Dan could win of course, but for me the likely result is a bunch of blog posts about "its time for dan to retire". Fighters ducking Machida is nothing new.

Agree Machida would give Dan problems because of styles, but disagree about Machida being leaps and bounds ahead of the rest of the LHW division. I'd still pick Shogun over him and I think Rashad would beat him too even despite the last match up.

| Really? Rashad hardly looks explosive or fast enough to give Machida any problems and he wouldnt wrestle fuck his way to victory either. Shogun doesnt throw leg kicks anymore. Machida would easily defeat 2012 Shogun imo and Rashad would be shooped all over again. | |

| The clear homerism for Machida is about the only thing more disturbing than the incredulous bashing of Hendo and Rashad in this thread, Wolf. | |

| I dont understand how a very valid, likely the consensus opinion if we posted a poll on a place like BE, that Machida would fuck dan up is "bashing". Dan is one of my favorite fighters. I just dont see his style as something that would "solve" machida as he is nothing like the fighters who gave Machida trouble, save Page, but the third round of that fight in my mind was the biggest story. That is a very reasonable, valid opinion. Dan is a wild slugger, Machida is a ninja killa.
Rashad's last four wins have been Rampage, Silva, Evans and Davis. What fight did he show skills that say he is any better than he was when Machida destroyed his head? And what skills were those? Cause I aint seeing it at all. And his chin is still a huge question.
What fucking universe do we live in where thinking Evans would lose to Machida is "fighter bashing"?
Weird boiz. | |

| This isn't 2009 where Machida is still undefeated. He is no longer quite so much a puzzle. He has been hit cleanly and Hendo has become some kind of savant at corralling guys and laying them out with that overhand right. Machida isn't the mysterious and ultra elusive fighter anymore. He gets put against the fence, he gets hit cleanly, he is still a top light heavyweight fighter but nobody to date has ever "beat the fuck out of" Dan Henderson. He has been competitive in every fight he's ever had except maybe the Jake Shields fight. | |
