UFC on XBOX LIVE EPIC FAIL

don't know if you guys know or not, but I was planning on ordering this last event on xbox. But after seeing all the technical problems just 1 hour before the live event, I choose otherwise. But looking on twitter, it was EPIC FAIL. They gave less then 30 min notice to "find other means to watch".

You couldn't get into the App and kept getting an error. Then when you went on Twitter they kept saying they are working on it and update is coming soon. Then they would say update coming soon. Update coming soon. Errrr, um, ABORT! ABORT!

haha i was paying attention to this... i was at a friends house watching the fights but i saw when they released the extra 5000 free tickets... and then the tweets kept coming

I tried forever to get those free tickets, which I don't see how they were given out when no one was able to even access the app at that time? It was about as big of a fail as you could get. They never got it to work.

Of course the UFC gives a BIG PPV away for free then it doesn't work hmmmm..... I want my Anderson Silva money back.

Well alteast they never got around to charging anyone. The buy feature was never available.

But they waited until the UFC event was starting before giving up, they didn't give people enough time to find another way to watch.

Sounds like the UFC owes me even more now.

To kick off its new business partnership with Ultimate Fighting Championship
(UFC), Microsoft was kind enough to give away the UFC 141: "Lesnar vs.
Overeem" pay-per-view (PPV) for FREE to the first 30,000 fight fans who
subscribed to Xbox Live and downloaded the UFC App for streaming the
Dec. 30 fight card.

Unfortunately, they didn't deliver.

As our own Sergio Hernandez illustrated in this post,
the influx of requests became too much for the servers to handle,
leaving most fans with nothing more than an error message and a night
full of frustration.

Now Microsoft (via Bit Mob) is ready to make amends:

"The broadcast of UFC 141 through the UFC for Xbox LIVE application
was hampered by technical issues appearing in the hours leading up to
the fight. Despite restoring service to some users during the course of
UFC 141, there is a great deal of room for improvement. All 30,000
users who registered to view UFC 141 for free will be provided access
to a future fight at no cost."

"We want to ensure that the
30,000 giveaway recipients for UFC 141 have an optimal experience with
UFC on Xbox LIVE, and we are currently working with our partners at the
UFC to ensure we deliver just that. The gamertags of the 30,000 users
who registered for UFC 141 are being safely kept on file for free
access to a future UFC event, and we will have more updates to share in
the near future."

To make it up to those fans left out
in the cold -- and assuredly to save face on the public relations
front -- they have announced that a future UFC event will be offered
for free for those who signed up for UFC 141, but were unable to watch.

No timetable has been identified at this point, as it will probably
take some time to make sure they avoid a repeat of this recent disaster.

yeah but only the 30000 that got the free pass would have access to it...

Side note: When I put in UFC on my phone the auto correct has UFC ON FOX. How does my phone know that LOL?

What I'm suggesting is those 30K get the free ticket to watch a future event(should be their choice of when to use the ticket) but also all xbox users should get UFC 141 for free to watch the replay on the xbox app. Because they are not making it up to the people who waited and waited to order the event, prepared to pay their money, only to get stiffed at the last min and told to find an alternative way to view the fights.

Microsoft later apologized and announced it would make amends by offering fans a fight card for free at a later date. As it turns out, it won't be much later at all.

In an e-mail sent out to users, XBox Live revealed it will offer fans the chance to watch the UFC 142: "Aldo vs. Mendes" event for free this Sat., Jan. 14, 2012. But that's not all. The complete e-mail is after the jump.
