http://www.cagepotato.com/strikeforce-going-get-screwed-out-overeem-fedor

Basically, Strikeforce puts in all the work in promotion and money, and then Dream gets the one HW fight, outside of the UFC, that everyone wants. It still may not happen, but you know those guys at M-1 could care less about Strikeforce and its growth. I'll bet this fight happensfairly quickly in the new year, barring injuries to either fighter.

Perfect chance for Strikeforce to wear big boy pants. Overeem needs to defend Strikeforce title against #1 contender, in the states, or be stripped for pussing out for last two years.

They have no leverage. Alistair could care less about his Strikeforce title and M-1 is basically free to do what it wants.

DREAM is not going to get that fight. The deal with Fedor is a co-promotion deal between M-1 and Strikeforce. The only way they'll get it is if Strikeforce and M-1 agree to have it live at 1am in the morning in the united states on HDnet. What do you think? will they do that?

M-1 did the Strikeforce deal because they wanted Fedor to get national exposure here. The fight happens in the states, or it does not happen perioid. Overeem has stated countless times that he will defend the title here but would prefer DREAM, just not going to happen. Fight happens here.

That's just a stupid blog by somebody who is still not over Fedor not signing with the UFC because of his M-1 contract. They have the leverage of having Overeem under contract and with a new champions clause as of May. He'll have to defend it eventually, and in the states. They said April and it will probably be Fedor. Why else is Overeem taking as many MMA fights as he can at the moment when he was hardly taking any for a year? he fought 2 times in one week, and is going to fight on new years eve and will have K-1 fights. He's getting ready for something.

Also, if the fight does not happen, it would not be the co-promotion that did it...it would obviously be Alistair Overeem that prevented it. M-1 won't agree to waste a contracted fight in Japan when Fedor vs. Werdum/Bigfoot would be all the same to the grander audience on CBS for the title. More people probably know who Werdum and Bigfoot are, and who knows? they are probably as good if not better than Overeem. Werdum has already beat Alistair once. So it does not hurt Strikeforce so much as it takes away a big fight from the hardcore fans but this blogger is pointing the finger at the wrong group and just assuming M-1 cares enough about that matchup to waste a precious contract fight in Japan where there will be little to no exposure in the states...this all comes down to Overeem getting his ass in the states. M-1 wants that fight here where money can be made and Fedor gets national exposure, Overeem wants the fight in Japan so he can not fail a drug test...Strikeforce and M-1 will tell Overeem to piss up a rope before they waste a Fedor fight there.

Guys all M-1 does is leverage people who atually have put the time in. Granted that Fedor got screwed by his old manager, but that doesn't mean he gets to screw everybody else, because he didn't get a reach around.
