Excited to start training again

Update

I've been busting my ass, running a mile a day, jumping it up to two miles a day starting today, training hard... for me anyways lol. My trainer is looking for my first ammy fight and I'm competing in a grappling tourney next weekend. I'll post the results, even if I get subbed in the first match lol.

do it man! Hows the knee? It wasn't as bad as you thought was it?

noo it just ended up being a deep bone bruise in the knee joint. Pretty much back to full strength although it is still sensitive to any type of hyper-extension so i probably won't be training knee bars or heel hooks anytime soon.

Just wanted to talk my BJJ coach up alittle. When I started training at this gym I saw all these pic of the coachs competing or whatever on the wall. Anyway the bjj coach had his pic took with Rickson Gracie. I thought maybe he did a seminar that Rickson ran or something. But it turns out(since I finally asked lol) that he is a Royce Gracie bluebelt. And he actually ran seminars with the one and only Rickson Gracie. I thought that was super sweet and worth telling you guys.

That is a pretty sweet story. I bet dude is a tough bastard.

He's not a small guy either and he loves to get the knee on belly on you and makes you work your way out. Its fucking brutal.

Well I didn't win the tourney but I got third in my weightclass! I was going against experienced fighters too not beginners so their was no shame in lossing one match. Overall very happy with my performance. Hopefully someone took a pic of my upset sub win against a guy who no doubt was favored over myself so I can show it off lol.

What was your record during the tourney?

2-1 it wasn't that big of a tourney, but I got 2 subs so fuck yeah! lol And the guy I lost two is a badass so I ain't mad at all.

yeah it was no-gi, I've never trained in the gi before. Although I'm gonna start since I figured out my bjj coach is a Rickson Gracie bluebelt just cause I want to be able to say that I got whatever belt through a Rickson Gracie student. I never wanted to do gi before but I'm a big Rickson fan so I got to see what I can do with it.

gi will help your no gi out alot, wish I had done that route

I've only ever done gi since it was recommended to me as a great base before doing no-gi but I'm gonna start doing both soon

brian just opened a new bigger gym, just trying to get over a few lingering injuries before i go back.

ah ok...I was wondering because im in queens but work on long island. Used to help train some of the serra longo fighters in wrestling and was paid with free kickboxing and bjj classes....now I do bjj with a Renzo Gracie/John Danaher student at his own gym in queens and coach high school wrestling/do private lessons with hs and college guys in the off season. Just seeing if you could have been a potential training partner. Good luck with your training!

thanks man. That is pretty sick i didn't know you have trained and worked with such high level guys. One thing i regret is not doing wrestling in hs, would have been a huge head start. Good to hear man keep it up.
