Machida vs Phil Davis at UFC 140- fight is off

I'm going with Machida in this one. He has proven himself against wrestlers and I don't think Davis is ready for the top guys just yet. His stand up is horrible from what I've seen.

Thats not even taking into account that Phil Davis's takedowns have been far from automatic even against the feeder opponents.

Machida will win a lop sided decision if not out right knock this dude out.

Brilz has good wrestling too though. Either way, Davis can't get this fight to the ground. I don't think Jon Jones would be able too either.

I think Lil Nog changed up his training a great deal between those fights.

Isn't davis recovering from surgery?

Nog definitely focused on the takedown and it hampered his striking.

Still, Machida can shrug off great wrestlers without having to not be Machida.

I would say Machida vs. Page II but Page probably won't be ready to fight again by that time considering he is coming off a grueling camp and a grueling asswhooping.

That is what I was thinking. Machida would wreck shop.

I kinda like the idea of bringing in King Mo to fight against Machida. I mean the fact that Forrest Griffin had to brought into the talk of top fights to see who should fight for the belt is getting kinda old. It isn't our fault though, because UFC doesn't really have the same claim to the 205lbs division like they had a year ago. The fighters are mostly the same but we have seen how the cards played out and another big name is needed bad. If Machida vs Mo doesn't happen, I would atleast like to see him brought in against someone like Lil Nog in the Japan show. Both are big names there and it would be a nice way to introduce him in the UFC.

For a little while there it looked like UFC 140 had a main event. The card already has nine bouts tentaively booked, but none of them looked like a solid headliner. At the UFC 139 press conference today in San Jose, UFC president Dana White announced that Phil Davis and Lyoto Machida would be facing off in a five-round main event fight on the December 10th card in Toronto. Great news, right? Not quite.

It turns out he was wrong and the fight won't be happening, according to a tweet he sent out after the press conference ended:

Dana's usually the first guy to say something similar to "Sorry but I can't announce a fight until we're absolutely sure" to anyone that asks. Then he goes and does it once and it turns out he was wrong. I'm sure fans in Toronto don't find it as funny as I do, because they still don't have a solid main event for the show. Is the Frank Mir vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira rematch worthy of top billing? Probably not. You'd have to think Machida's a lock for that card now, but who does he fight? It seems like all the top guys are either booked, injured, or recently suffered a beatdown.

Im with Beast, Machida vs Mo would be sweet. Better then Lyoto vs Davis.

That would be my vote, Machida V Mo, Davis would get wrecked by Machida
