Back in 2009, Stephen King mentioned that he was considering writing a sequel to The Shining, but now it is official. The title of the novel is Dr. Sleep and it involves “a traveling group of Vampires called The Tribe”.
During his appearance at George Mason University last weekend, Stephen King read a chapter from the book and we’ve include a video of it below. The story is said to feature Danny Torrence as an adult and a group of vampires called “The Tribe” that feed on psychic energy. There are no more official details at this time, but we’ll provide an update as soon as more information is released.

Yeah, i cringed at vampires as well...i hope Stephen is not using a bonafide classic to cash in on the vampire fad.

Yep. The Shining, even though it had the psych stuff with the kid and hotel, was one of the least 'out there' in terms of magic and monsters of his horror stories. It was the general psychological horror that made it exceptional. I fear for this story and the ABC miniseries to follow.

King has been writing about Vampires long before Vampires were cool or shieck or in, his Darktower series is filled with them, as with Salem's lot, I know he has shown outright contempt for Stephanie Myer so maybe he is just trying to show her how it is done.

yeah, i read those books..in the case of Salems Lot a couple times.
I'm talking about as a follow up to The Shining, seems left field.
