| So SF putting on fights to meet the demands of their current contract, a contract that may or may not be renewed, this implies that SF will carry on "business as usual"?
Political spin aside, word up. Budd's striking sucks, but she is physically strong and a good grappler. Actually younger in her career then Ronda, but has fought tougher comp. Good fight. Ronda getting name fighters, means the big fight is not far away.

| Budd is a great striker who beat Gina during their kickboxing careers. Her striking is what had her ranked when she had 1 fight.
It wouldn't make much sense for Zuffa to provide all this exposure for Ronda just to let her walk to Bellator. No matter how bad you want it to make sense, closing Strikeforce just doesn't appear in the cards.

No matter how bad you want it to make sense, closing Strikeforce just doesn't appear in the cards. Looks like a good way to fill up cards until the merger. Dana does not beleive in women's MMA and still has no desire to have it in the UFC anytime soon. Why not let some other organization continue to build the brand until the UFC feels it has enough value? Kind of what the UFC was allowing SF to do. I think that is a pretty likely scenario.

| Dana doesn't "not believe in womens MMA". That is a myth. Personally, he may not be a big fan, but since the merger it's been "they need more fighters, they need more fighter". This is what they're doing, getting more fighters. | |

A myth? Granted it is near impossible to tell when Dana is saying shit just because it sounds good or whether he actually means it. But Dana has made it very clear that he doesn't see enough value/quality in women's MMA to have it in the UFC anytime soon. Again maybe once the brand is build up even more that may change. I don't think Dana has any problem with letting another organization put in the time and effort to build that brand to a point where it has enough value to be part of the UFC.

| don't be scared of research homie. - Quote :
- UFC President Dana White has made bold statements about women in MMA over the past seven or eight years, with every one of them softening a bit and bit more. White met with several of the Strikeforce fighters including champions Cyborg Santos and Marloes Coenen at the Zuffa Summit in Vegas a few weeks ago with positive responses. Zuffa has made a valiant effort to get better promotional videos and photo shoots done for them as well.
White did an interview with the Forbes Sports Money show on the YES network recently, and finally clarified his stance. Although you won't see women in the UFC right away, the door maybe open soon.
"I don't have a problem with women fighting," White states. "As (women's MMA) continues to grow, if there are more and more women where you can create an entire division with a lot of talent women, I am all about it"

Yeah I'm fully aware of that. He is obviously saying that if that brand is built to the point to where I can put on fights on a consistent basis I will re-consider. Will they use SF to build that brand? Maybe. But I think it's more likely they allow that to happen else where and take over when it is further developed.

| It is more likely they'll develop these fighters and divisions to a point, let them go to a competitor, then once it's all nice to whatever point Dana likes it, buy back that competitor and "take it over"?

OU stop smoking so much k. I don't think Zuffa has a problem with allowing a competitor to build that brand. At this point it's still not close to being UFC ready. How much time are they willing to invest? It's not even a given that the UFC will have women's MMA in the next 5 years. Will SF still be here in 5 years? Yes, I think it's very possible the brand of women's MMA is built by a non-Zuffa organization.

| hmm, within the realm of "sure I suppose, anything is possible" but I'd assume a much more likely scenario would be to follow the exact model they did with the WEC weight classes. | |

But is the WEC weight classes comparable at this point? Even those were years ahead in development. How close to ready is women's MMA? Would they have women's MMA if it was just 1 division that was strong enough? Maybe that will be part of the "re-evaluation"? How close to UFC ready is women's MMA? 1 year? 3 years? 10 years? Are they comfortable enough with where women's MMA is today to where they want to keep pushing that brand right now?

Miguel Torres was fighting guys for the title who were brand new signed fighters out of Japan and barely winning just three years ago. In 2007 all the sub 55 rankings were Japanese shooto fighters. There are plenty of women kickboxers, wrestlers, judokas enough to get a division of 10-15 people in America alone. Did you see that Sarah McMahon the other night on Pro Elite? This chick is beyond legit.

Did you see that Sarah McMahon the other night on Pro Elite? This chick is beyond legit. How many divisions are close to UFC ready for women's MMA? Are they willing to promote only 1 division? 2 divisions? I still don't think women's MMA is on par or close to the weak Torres division of the WEC. Maybe the very top end but not the overall depth. Also with the WEC merger the UFC knew they would have fighters shifting to the new weight classes. The only reason some of those guys weren't at lighter weights to begin with is it wasn't on the big show(UFC). They knew the divisions would get instant boost.

| A division doesn't need 30 fighters though. I mean, why aren't they "UFC ready" now when all they'd have to do is show the top level fighters, title fights etc. You could do this division on 15 solid fighters. | |

| Bellator has below 135 on lock I think, at least for now.
Should Strikeforce create divisions for smaller female fighters?

You think the UFC would go for that? I don't want it to sound like this is what I want. I want women's MMA in the UFC asap and I'll take the 15 fighters in just 1 division. But will the UFC do that? Will they have women's MMA if it is just 1 weight class? Do you think they will?

Should Strikeforce create divisions for smaller female fighters? Absolutely they should. If you build it they will come, it will only accelerate women's MMA as a whole.

I would call her "cute". But I do see what you mean, nothing special about her at all and I'm sure everyone here will see multiple women today alone that are more attractive. But I dunno, she has "something" about her that I find pretty damn cute. Also, nice ass.
