So which is it?

Solids are forms of matter that are rigid in structure and compact while liquids are less densely packed and thus assume the shape of their container.

So I would assume then that both jello and pudding would be considered solids since if you remove them from a container and drop them on a plate, both would not automatically assume the shape of the plate.

But to be "technical", both are considered gels, which are colloidal mixtures of solid particles in liquids (if you think about it, both are basically water stirred in with a ready-mix), so they'll become more and more liquidy if you stir the mixture or heat it up.

So the answer is, it depends on the temperature of your pudding.
