Quote :
Lightweight Sam Stout (17-6-1 MMA, 6-5 UFC) has withdrawn from a fight with fellow lightweight Dennis Siver (19-7 MMA, 8-4 UFC) at UFC 137.

A source close to the fighter today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) of the bad news. A replacement has yet to be confirmed.

The London, Ontario, Canada native suffered a devastating blow earlier this month with the death of his brother-in-law and longtime trainer, Shawn Tompkins.

However, the reason for Stout's withdrawal wasn't immediately clear.

UFC 137 takes place Oct. 29 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, where Stout and Tompkins migrated several years prior.

Tompkins' influence was clearly seen in Stout's most recent performance, a "Knockout of the Night" victory that saw him starch Yves Edwards with a thunderous punch at UFC 131. It was Stout's second consecutive victory.

The 27-year-old's crowd pleasing style has won him four fight-night bonuses, including three consecutive "Fight of the Night" awards.

Siver currently is 8-1 over his past nine fights, which includes a 7-1 mark in the octagon. Along the way, he's picked up four "Fight Night" bonuses – two for the evening's best knockout and one each for best submission and best fight.

Check back with MMAjunkie.com for an update on Siver's new opponent

From UFC.com-

After the Monday removal of Sam Stout from his UFC 137 bout with Dennis Siver, rising lightweight star Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone has stepped up to the plate yet again, verbally agreeing to take on the streaking contender from Germany in the October 29th bout in Las Vegas.

Cerrone is currently riding a five fight winning streak that includes three UFC victories and two post-fight awards for KO of the Night and Fight of the Night. Siver has notched four straight wins, and is coming off back-to-back victories over George Sotiropoulos and Matt Wiman.

Cerrone is on the fast track to $$$$$

That is a universal brownie point with the boss tactic for any job, to step up when another is out, doing it time and time again, bosses gotta love it. Top it with him winning impressively over and over again, money, good money. He is gonna be in a great position with three fight bonuses during this current 5 fight win streak. I don't know how his contract works, but what ever it was it's going quick and a new one should be coming up.

Yeah so do I.

I think Siver has a little better chance to score a nice KO, but Cerrone has an okay chance for a KO himself and a better chance to win via sub or points.

I had Wiman beating him actually, but Siver seems like a tough guy to break. It won't be easy I don't think.

"Thanks to @danawhite @ufc @joesilva for giving me another awesome opportunity! Im ready, cowboys coming!!" -Donald Cerrone, who decided to step in on short notice to face a top contender in Dennis Siver.

Officially on the Cowboy bandwagon. Dude is awesome. and this should be a great fight. A fight cowboy will win. Too much length, too tough.

The WEC takeover continues.

I don't care who wins this really. I guess I want Cowboy to win but dislike him more than I am a fan, like Siver. Cowboy has the better upside though big picture, I'll be rooting for him to lose in most fights though. But respect.

Why don't you like either Siver or Cowboy?

Siver I'm kind of indifferent on, but Cowboy sounds like a jackass 90% of the time.

I dunno I have always liked the guy. I guess it started with his Varner beef since I always disliked Varner. But he is always game and even handled that sucker punch from Kelly pretty well.
