I can understand taking a step down in competition when on a 3 fight losing streak...but damn.

At the same time, there arent many options available right now. All the good non-UFC HW are in Strikeforce...or to a lesser extent Bellator.

It's pretty much Overeem or nothing for Fedor...i don't think they want to take a 3 fight losing streak and fight Overeem right now.

Or he could do a catchweight. Mousasi would be interesting, but I doubt they'd fight.

Wiuff is an interesting name in that he has almost 60 professional wins now. He is at least still top 50 in my eyes. He is much like a Monson in the division in that regard but with a focus on wrecking over subbing, and he is monstrous in size. Whitehead is a joke to for someone to name in fighting rumors for Fedor, I'm not high on that idea as much, but if Fedor wants to fight and the door is open for challengers to come calling, I guess it could happen.

But if non-suffa names are to start rolling out, it becomes slim

The GG guys, Val, Reem, Elmino
Don't know the details of Cole Konrad's contract, but it seems like he never fights.

I laughed at first, but I'd actually like to see that.

But might be a bit too risky for M-1.

I think Ricco is the guy. He's a name, he's been winning recently so the hardcore fan might accept it, he is about his weight. And Fedor could not possibly lose right?

Glover, now that'd be risky

AA's chin said no thanks

Stipe Miocic is in the UFC, fighting Beltran I thought, win BTW.

I'd watch Gonzo, at least he has some name rec

Doubt M-1 would do Guram

I like Monson or Ricco I guess

If this is the level of fighter , he is choosing to fight, hand picking cans for a lower level of competiiton.....then i say just retire Fedor, enough is enough....Noone wants to see you fight cans now, because you cant hang with the top dogs.

I know i cant be be the only thinking this ....right?

We have to be a little more fair than this. There is NO heavyweight in limbo outside of UFC, Strikeforce, and Bellator that would be a suitable opponent for Fedor other than Alistair Overeem. This would mean M-1 and Golden Glory..sworn enemies would have to make a deal and that won't happen without Strikeforce being a mediator in the whole situation...these guys won't talk to eachother and its mainly GG who hates M-1

Fedor does not have a single HW to his disposal that won't draw groans from fans and we also have to take into account that not everybody would be willing to fight Fedor.

Elite is right. Fedor just needs to be a pan handler on the streets now with a sign that says "will fight cans for free" " could not run with the big dogs so now I'm on the porch" " Bodog you still have my number right?".

LOL I can't help it man it's just embarrassing for Fedor. He needs to ditch the management they have been holding him back for years. I still say that if he would have fought the best of the best after Pride maybe his fight game would have evolved and maybe he wouldn't be such a little bitch now. He needs to train with a camp that will whoop his ass and not suck his dick he needs to be treated like a dog then maybe he will snap out of it. Other than that I think he will lose his next fight BOOKMARKED!

What money are they making besides off of Fedor? The stupid show on Showtime? That will be canceled as soon as the contract is up Fedor is their only draw and leverage in any conversation. What he owns 3%? Those guys are playing him like a puppet running him into the ground.

Wiuff, Whitehead named as possible opponents for Fedor Empty
PostSubject: The cans are starting to align for Fedor   Wiuff, Whitehead named as possible opponents for Fedor EmptyFri Aug 12, 2011 9:11 am

http://espn.go.com/blog/mma/post?id=3680

by Chuck Mindenhall

It wasn’t quite two weeks ago that Fedor Emelianenko lost to Dan Henderson and had people wondering if that was his unceremonious outro. Almost everybody wanted to know, after his third straight loss, if that was the last time we’d see Fedor compete.

Then almost as suddenly it was determined that Fedor wasn’t done yet -- not by a long shot, ya’ll! -- and Kevin Randleman’s name was running up the flagpole as a possible opponent for a fall card to be held in his native Russia.

Kevin Randleman? If that's true, well ... at least we have an answer, and that is -- yes, it seems Fedor is done competing.

Here is what his manager and head of M-1 Vadim Finkelstein allegedly told the Russian website Champion AT when asked who Fedor’s next opponent would be: “There are many possibilities. I personally want the opponent to be one of the great fighters from Pride’s best times. It would be good if it was an interesting and competitive fighter, like for instance, Kevin Randleman. At any rate, we will chose a competitive, globally respected fighter.”

Interesting, marginally (in an uncanny resemblance to Grace Jones kind of way). But competitive? That’s borderline insulting.

Unlike Dan Henderson, who is 40 years old and looking 28, Randleman is more the usual kind of 40-year-old who loses to guys like Baga Agaev via first round submissions. He has dropped four fights in a row and eight of 10 fights going back to the first time he fought (and was destroyed by) Fedor Emelianenko in Pride’s heavyweight grand prix back in 2004. Randleman is cooked. And that’s exactly why Fedor’s camp is hand-selecting him to get off the skids. A warm body with a subliminal link to the past that Fedor can waltz through. Yet even using the word subliminal in discussing Randleman seems sort of irresponsible. The better words might be “transparent” and “desperate.”

Before Randleman’s name was raised, others like prolific journeyman Travis Wiuff and Mike Whitehead were mentioned in connection to Fedor. This gives you an idea of the value we’re talking for the string of upcoming fights for the “Last Emperor.” The idea is to restock his emptied legacy with -- what they hope to be -- an assortment of donated cans. And in the end, maybe that’s the best way to go about things when options are down to a scant few. Maybe a couple of wins and some Dutch training and Fedor returns to prominence. At least that’s what M-1 is now hinging on. As for Fedor himself, he would likely have no qualms whether you put Randleman in front of him, or Cain Velasquez. Fighting is what he knows. He just does what he’s instructed to do.

But Randleman is a hard sell as anything compelling. And the idea to revisit “Pride’s best times” comes off as a strange piece of nostalgia to roll with in discussing a man who has always been, in the very least, a prideful competitor.

Here is something you guys will love.

http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2011/8/12/2358713/m-1-global-master-tapes-up-for-auction-mma-news
by Mike Fagan
Christmas is always around the corner, and what better for the MMA
fan in your life than than M-1 Global's master tapes from 2008 and 2009?
Relive that pivotal MMA moment when some guy with four consecutive
consonants in his last name took on some American washout in a battle
for national pride!

Where can you find this deal? Why, on eBay of course!

Middle Easy found
the auction yesterday when bidding opened at a penny coupled with an
outrageous $49,999.99 shipping fee for "171 large mouth Sony HD Cam 124
minute tapes." (The winner also receives an autographed Fedor glove!)

Why the exorbitant asking price? According to the description, the
tapes were being sold as a result of non-payment for production costs.
Presumably, $50,000 covers most/all of those costs.

The seller's account, m1clearencesale (and tag a big ol' sic on that), led back to one man: Gary "Jerry" Millen. Middle Easy caught up with him:

"I left M1 and it was amicable, but there was a huge amount of money
still owed to me for the M1 Series production. I was told I would be
taken care of, and I never was. A portion of the money owed was supposed
to be for the M1 commentators, Jimmy Smith and Sean Wheelock. They were
never paid by M-1, so I paid them out of my own pocket."

"I'm selling these tapes as a way to recoup the substantial amount of
money that is owned to me. M1 didn't pay the invoices and the past year
and a half they've been giving me BS excuses. I know financially things
aren't well for them, but this is a complete reflection of M1. This is
not aimed to hurt Fedor Emelianenko
in anyway. He's been completely mismanaged. I hate to say that Dana
White is right, but he's 100% right with most of the comments he's made
towards M-1. They unfortunately ruined Fedor's career. Can it be
salvaged? Sure. But M1 as a management company is ridiculous. You got to
remember everyone at M1 left and they put Evgeni Kogan, a translator,
virtually in charge of the company. Director of Operations? What is
that? When we were there, we actually had revenue coming in and was
producing a product. Now they have nothing coming in and it's in
complete disarray. You can't put a translator in charge of running a
company."

Or can you?

Since the auction opened, Millen has reduced the shipping to $2,000.
The current bid, as of midnight ET, has climbed to $202.50 (though the
reserve has not been met). Bidding ends in six days.

Think of all the M-1 highlights you could put up on Youtube.
