Forgot about Mann, Heat is one of my all time favorite movies.
Spike Lee IMO is overrated, Inside Man is about the only movie of his that I like.

Robert F'n B Movie Rodriguez gets HM but you don't even mention the Coen Bros. Too boring? too many open endings? I would say tsk tsk but your failure in film discussion is expected.
Get Fincher, Marty and Quentin off your list...they don't need popcorn fiends.

Yeah, why keep making original powerful thought provoking film like he always has when he could have made a popcorn flick that would have likely ended his run of excellence?

I mostly looking at guys who have directed 2 or more films I value. Most directors have a lot of crap on their resume.

Hence why I wanted Darren behind the helm, his style and ideas could have made an intriguing movie.
You forget Nolan was once in a similar position to Darren before Batman, so don't try and act so condescending.

I do like the Coen Bros, just not a huge devoted fan of their work.

I disagree...Nolan was coming off a highly disappointing(critically speaking) Insomnia right before he did Batman begins. Al Pacino, Robin Williams and Hilary Swank and the movie was highly forgettable and for good reason. Aronofsky has pretty much been perfect and true to himself. Nolan did a lot of different types of movies where as aronofsky is about character studies involving true to life characters..not some fake superhero nobody can relate to.
No way would any studio allow Wolverine to be Aronofsky'd. They want action and popcorn.
