John Howard released from UFC

John Howard, a promising welterweight who won his first four UFC fights, has been released from the organization.

The 28-year-old today announced the news in a video message and said he
could be heading to Bellator Fighting Championships, DREAM or another
major organization.

The release comes after a unanimous-decision loss to Matt Brown at UFC on Versus 4. It marked Howard's third straight defeat.

Tough way to go out, on a close dec loss. Hopefully we see him in Bellator fighting a loser from the WW tourney or something. I wouldn't mind seeing him fight Whitemare in DREAM, would be entertaining.

Most guys in the UFC are not UFC caliber.

That fight with Brown was far from a close decision. Dude only arguably won one round and spent the rest of the fight gassed out and getting beat up everywhere. He only had one legit win in the UFC anyway.

It was a last min replacement fight, he was preparing to fight a standup battle with Kampmann and instead got a grinder like Brown. He faced some pretty stiff competition in the UFC.

I never said he didn't face stiff competition but he got soundly beaten by everyone he lost to. And his UFC record was the most inflated that we've seen in a very long time. Don't get Me wrong here, I even predicted Howard to win the fight with Brown, but the way he lost to Brown is what really turned Me off to the guy. Yes, Brown is a grinder and he was training for a striker(or so we think, Kampmann has decent takedowns himself). The fact that he gassed about 4 minutes into the fight is what has Me saying "good riddance" to a welterweight who got cut.
