| man Im really pumped for this one, Lara was a big time Cuban prospect that came over but has kind of been a bit boring and not really delivered like pepoe thought he would.
at the time of the Gamboa, Solis and Yordanis Despaigne's group of defectors, Lara was thought to be the best boxer of all of them and possess the best skills to be ready for big title fights .
He has honestly seemed somewhat boring and not been impressive, nor does he have a strong punch.
BUT he is facing Paul Williams coming off his first fight since being knocked the fuck out by Sergio Martinez, so this should be an interesting one imo. Check it out tongiht

| entertaining fight, Williams through over a 1,000 punches and landed 200 at 19%, Lara landed like 240 punches at 47%,
he landed the straight down the pipe alot on Williams, good scrap, they need to rematch, i can honestly understand a draw but not Williams 7-5, Lara proved himself as a legit contender and Williams is talkong about a Martinez rematch | |

| Couple things about the fight.
1)It def looked like a real bad decision, Williams thought he lost, his corner thought he lost, the HBO broadcast team were going on about the danger Williams was in from eating left hands all night.
I for one thought the HBO guys were going overboard, and they still may have swayed my opinion a bit into thinking that Lara was straight dominating, but Lara landed more punches, and clearly the harder punches, I didn't keep a scorecard, but I prob would not have given more then 4 rnds to Williams.
2)The welt on the side of Lara's head caused by a head butt was hilarious. Not quite Rockman vs Evander, but still pretty good.
3)This had the feeling of a david vs Goliath type of match. Williams was SOOO much taller out there, and aside from the legs, Lara did not look much thicker. Supposedly Williams only outweighed Lara by 10 lbs on fight night, but it looked like more then that.
3)Williams cannot fight Martinez in his next go. He asked for it, but Williams would be seen as the lamb being led to slaughter. I'd keep him away from any southpaw until he gets his confidence back. And I would not have him face Sergio until he gets a new trainer and learns how to avoid those southpaw left hands. Literally ate a couple dozen of those things.
On the card as a whole.
1)The fight prior was pretty good and ended with a sweet come from behind one punch KO.
2)Cintron and Arreola also fought that night, I believe both were in AC(not positive) so the card as a whole had a bit of an MMA like stacked card feel with 4 fights featuring either name guys or champs. I know time constraints are a problem with 12 rnds of boxing, so I wonder if Boxing needs to deviate away from 12 rnd non title main events, make those fights, no more then 10, and perhaps make an 8 or even 7 rnd fight featuring an arreola or a cintron(who lost actually but whatever) so as to bring more juice to the televised card.
3) I like Pappa and Kellerman normally, not much of a fan of roy jones, but overall I did not like what these guys were dishing out.
