| Sources: Fedor takes home $1.5 M while Henderson makes $800k for their fight in July. Huge purses. Zuffa will have hard time making money. | |

The article I read said it was a Showtime card set for 7/30.It didn't mention it was a PPV.Let's hope it's free to subscribers.

| Hendo is probably getting paid more because it's a higher profile fight than his last 3 and it's out of his weight class. Also, SF, Showtime, and M-1 are all throwing money into the pot for this fight i'm sure. Sylvia, AA, and Rogers all were reported to get huge pay to fight Fedor. I'd imagine Werdum and Foot did as well though i never heard anything about it...i'm guessing the biggest name of them all Hendo is no exception, but even then...Sylvia and AA made more.
As for PPV, i'm pretty sure they said that the GP finals would be the PPV.

No, Edgar vs Bones would eclipse their purses. |

O,ok. Makes sense then. On a side note the finals will happen late 2012, book it. I actually think early 2012 at the latest. Pretty much the delay between the 1st leg and 2nd leg of round 1 is what is hurting it....i think it will get on a 4 months between fight time frame as originally planned after that. This got delayed because they were trying to get into Japan for the 2nd leg and it didnt work out. I doubt that will be a problem after the 2nd leg is finally completed. Just have both second round fights on the same night sometime in September or October..then you can have the finals set by early next year. The GP will finish and the reason why is because Showtime still has A LOT of hand in the operation of Strikeforce while they still have their deal...They have been promoting a GP and they will want the GP to see an end. Showtime does not give up on tournaments as proven by continuing the Super Six even when half the original tournament dropped out. Its not really up to Coker or Zuffa to say "fuck it" at any point until it's over unless Showtime joins them. Also, there is no point in NOT completing the tournament for anybody, especially when tournament fighters have multi fight contracts with SF that all are compatible with the tournament and Zuffa/Coker still need to operate Strikeforce in the interest of their deal with Showtime and not like a feeder league because then they would be in breach.

| Love both fighters, but......overpaid
Maybe in the reality of how MMA payouts should be just right, but as they are now, jesus....

| Hendo said on Inside MMA that he's confident that he's going to go in and "beat up" Fedor | |

| they each throw a slowmotion overhand haymaker from the depths of hell and knock eachother out cold.
Also I wonder why the "tournament won't finish" stuff is still in style even after the purchase? Dana has said he wants the finals on PPV. There is no reason the tournament wouldn't finish and people can stop acting like Strikeforce is ran by people with their heads up their asses now. That was never the case, but now that Strikeforce is part of the UFC family, we don't have to pretend that is the case out of a misguided brand loyalty either.

I see Overeem just coming to the UFC and fighting Brock or Cain just as likely as the tourney happening as planned.
