I almost listed NBA Jam. Super Mario Kart crossed my mind too. Also the original WCW vs NWO for N64. I did spend hours of my life playing the 1st(might have been 2nd?) Tony Hawk on N64(it was a blue cartridge). Me and my buddy use to play that graffiti head to head game over and over. Also Ken Griffey Jr Baseball Slugfest.

Thinking about that WCW vs NWO game made this pop into my head.

Halo Combat Evolved All-time for me, Halo as a whole for best franchise
Metroid, my Dad helped me beat it back then, Metroid Prime was pretty tight too

Doom
Counter Strike is a good call by G
Tecmo SB not really but I loved it
Honestly Gears does deserve to get a mention for being completly unique

It's a toss up between Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Resident Evil 4.

video games are too fractured to pick right. An 8-bit game compared to a 256-bit game... it's so different. Then there is games where the value lies in multiplayer or single player, two very different experiences.

I think it's clear though now that Resident Evil 4 is the greatest game ever made in the all your history. It's been mentioned thrice times.

I was late to the Resi 4 party. I got it for the Wii on one of my birthdays and I spent the whole weekend glued to the game.

A recent game that's worthy of this discussion is Batman: Arkham Asylum.

This year is stacked with hugely anticipated games.

Elder Scrolls 5, Battlefield 3, Uncharted 3, Gears 3, Assassin's Creed Revelations, Batman: Arkham City, Dues Ex, Dead Island and Rage.

And there's already a couple out that are worthy, Dead Space 2, Portal 2 and LA Noire.
