Upset in the Making? Empty
PostSubject: Upset in the Making?   Upset in the Making? EmptyMon May 02, 2011 10:31 pm

Just saying guys, with Osama Bin Ladens death makes me think back to September 11th, Ill never forget that weekend, it was my birthday and I remember when they cancelled all planes I knew wasnt going to see my mom for my birthday. But it was ok there was still the Felix Trinidad vs Bernard Hopkins fight was being taking place (at MSG none the less).

A huge upset took place, the crowd was very pro USA (duh) and I will never forget Bernard Hopkins wearing a red hat that said one word "WAR" I dont know about yall but I honestly think Bernard channeled his inner anger (at recent terrorrist and a life time of disrespect) and absolutely clowned Tito, we all thought Felix would be faster and punch harder. We also thought he would outbox Bernard and set the ace, everyone was wrong on all of those factors.

Gotta wonder what the crowd will be like at the event and if Mosley will yield the "USA" chants. I still give Mosley virtually no shot to win but bigger upsets have happened. Even 2 years ago I would likely take Mosley over acquiao (this one or the one 2 years ago).

We have to see if Mosley still has the speed because if so he could land some straight rights down the pipe. I personally think Mosley has a better chance than Margarito in that atleast hes been in vs real opponents (Margarito was off a long layoff and a squash match) . History repeats itself in funny ways, I wonder if Mosley can pull it off.

Im not sure but there will be no where near as much emotion for Osama being killed as there was when the 9-11 attacks happened. Also to be honest should Tito have been such a huge favorite after all of us seen Vargas push this guy to the brink? Im like every1 else I thought Tito would kill Hopkins but in retrospect shouldnt we have seen chinks in Titos armor?

Tito lost because he was going up against a bigger, skilled opponent who read his attacks like a book. Not patriotism.

Tito owned Vargas for the most part, threw the hard lowblow that stopped all of Vargas' momentum, no way Osama being killed is as big as 9-11 patriotism but the 2 are still linked.

Tito should hve been the huge favorite, he even blew away William Joppy (considered tougher than Hopkins draw in Keith Allen)

I think my main point was missed

not sayng patriotism is playing a huge faactor, saying Bin Ladens death reminds me of 9-11 which coincidentally had another pretty big fight that everyone still considered a easy win for Tito (even though a unifier) which was featuring a fight vs a popular non american vs an american

whew....

I didnt think so. I thought Vargas more than held his own and damn near won that fight.

Vargas was competitive but Tito was an absolute monster. Vargas never was the same fighter after that fight. Yes, he was still good for a while, but he definitely left something in the ring that night.

Tito had chinks. De la Hoya showed that Tito could be outboxed (too bad he stopped boxing himself with 3 rounds to go in that fight). BHOP is a smart fighter, good technician, and along with Brother Nazeem, they came up with a gameplan on how to completely outbox and neutralize Tito.

you may be confusing fights because Trinidad ccame out, knockd Vargas down 3 times in the first round, won the 2nd, 3rd was close, Vargas knocked Tito down the 4th round , then Tito landed a massive lowblow that stopped Vargas in his tracks, 7-11 was all Tito and then Tito knocked him down another 3 times in the last round.

Im gonna go back and check but I think there was like a 4 to 5 point difference in all the scorecards without the 12th round (with 3 KDs for Tito) even being calculated in

I didnt mean he had a shot to win the fight on the cards I meant he had Tito hurt more than once and Tito proved to much for vargas but Vargas put on a great fight and I remember rooting for Tito thinking Damn for as bad as he busted Vargas up he couldnt get Vargas to stop coming. It was like Rocky vs Apollo 1 lol.
