How is Wand beating Machida exactly, with a vicious staredown? He wouldn't touch Machida with his striking technique at any point in his career.

I just think Pride rules vs Machida and with Wand at his peak he gets by somehow.

1.Wand vs 8.Couture - Silva is a great striker and has solid BJJ, but Randy has always been smart, durable, and is an excellent tactician. Brains over brawn. Randy wins via UD.

2.Liddell vs 7.Rashad - Before Chucks chin started to go, it was nearly pointless to punch him and even worse if you got punched. Chuck KO 1st rd.

3.Shogun vs 6.Tito - Tito has great wrestling and a solid GNP style, but Shogun was a monster and you never knew where he was going to hit you. Shogun 2nd Rd TKO

4.Machida vs 5.Rampage - Rampage has awesome striking power! It is pretty much sub par everywhere else. Machida is a master of movement, coordination and defense. Machida by 2nd TKO.

Couture vs Shogun - This would be a barn burner here with two fantastic fighters! One explosive the other cunning. In the end, Shogun gets TKOd by the more powerful Couture.

Liddell vs Machida - Talk about a nasty fight. This one goes all the way with Machida evading the heavy punches and causing little damage to the master. Machida can't keep Chuck on the ground and Chuck can't put Lyota away. Winner by split decision Lyota Machida.

Machida vs Couture - Machida keeps putting Randy off until Randy shoots and puts him in the cage, a lot of dirty boxing, which will give Randy the edge. Eventually, it gets to the ground and Randy is unable to garner a GNP victory due to the excellent timing and BJJ of Machida. Once the Ref restarts Machida keeps Randy at bay with well timed, strikes and evasion. Split decision goes to Machida.

In UFC rules, Machida will UD him. With Pride rules I think Wand gets his head stomped and is finished. He has a lot of heart and hits hard as hell, but when has he ever handled a great technical striker? Machida counters him all day.

2. Rashad. I don't see that fight going any differently if Chuck was younger. His "prime" was against a bunch of guys that weren't a threat striking. The UFC tried to feed him another wrestler, but they underestimated Rashad.

4. Machida. Which is unfortunate seeding for Rampage b/c I think he would beat 5 or 6 out of the other 7 guys in this tourney.

Wand vs Machida- Machida. He's too technical for Wandy's wild brawling.
Rashad vs Shogun- Shogun. Rashad is really not on the same level as most of these fighters.. was lucky to get Liddell in the 1st round :p


Shogun vs Machida. Well I'm taking Machida in the real fight just because Shogun hasn't looked the same in the UFC so far. But I wouldn't be surprised if Shogun wins. The old Pride grand prix winner Shogun vs Machida would be epic. Probably the two most talented LHW fighters ever, and I think Shogun would have an advantage with the Pride rules... Machida is not used to the stomps and soccer kicks and it's basically Shogun's specialty. I would actually pick Shogun. Hopefully he's in great shape for the real fight so we can get a definitive answer here.
