Just quick thoughts..no real analysis. Great, entertaining card. 8

First of all...Mousasi got hosed. He destroyed Jardine. Please don't try to sell me on Jardine's go nowhere takedowns that he took more damage from than Mousasi be it by taking shots or wasting energy. The only things he did of note was land one knee, survive, and take an illegal upkick. A draw with Jardine at this point is a smudge on a record...it's undeserved. Jardine did not win the first round even with the point deduction. He took all the damage, all he did was install Greg Jackson's famous stalling tactics. Mousasi. Robbed. I know it all came down to the point deduction, but one judge saw that Jardine in now way won round 1, but two judges think takedowns mean anything even when they don't lead to any damage or any control whatsoever. It's amazing Jardine took him down 6 times and didnt really control or do the slightest damage once.

Proud of Gilbert. Absolutely destroyed Crusher. Best performance to date by him. He was looking to make a statement with the big wigs...i just wish Jake Shields was not in the cage. It just seemed weird transitioning to Jake talking about his upcoming bout. I'm not gonna say he stole gil's shine or any bullshit like that, because i know the Cesar Gracie camp don't mind sharing the spotlight with eachother..but...it seemed like a cheap plug that could have been saved for any time between fights. The event ended about an hour ahead.

Diaz-Daley ending was very new. I see what rocked Daley in the replay but his fall was awkward. I didnt see what happened until i saw the replay and damn...at first i was smelling fish but i see what happened.

I thought Diaz was knocked out cold. Honestly, Diaz could have easily ended that fight when Daley was in his guard. He wanted to knock him out...and he did. But damn. I thought Daley had him knocked the fuck out like he did Smith when Diaz faceplanted.

It's like when you think you've crushed a spider, only to try to pick up to throw it away to see it start scampering again. Diaz is hard to kill...and he beat Daley at his own game. Nobody has done that before. Big win. I'm guessing Woodley next.

Great performance by Aoki. Beerbohm is an excellent fighter, but Fancy Pants just don't give a shit. He'll try to scramble with anybody. He did so with Shaolin, and even somebody much bigger than him in Healy. You don't want to scamble with Aoki..but i knew Lyle was going to do anyway and Aoki was going to tap him. A little quicker than i thought. Lol at Aoki trying to get the mic from Jimmy Lennon to get the face time he gets in Japan. Ha, you're only the opening bout on this card here Shinya. Great job though.

Good card. Except for Mousasi getting an undeserved smudge on his record against a guy who only came to survive and not fight..it delivered.

The draw was fine. Yes jardine was beat up, not destroyed. In the end remember too, moussasi wasnt able to put away jardine who was coming into the fight on short notice. That alone shoed go to show wer he really should stand in the rankings. As for ur other thoughts i do agree except the aoki one. It was a good win but not great. He did what he was expected to against a 3rd string guy. Beer is a good fighter but he os no wer near the level of comp aoki is. Good card but someone told me a week ago that moussasi was a better version of thiago, after last night i dont believe so. Also once again aokis win was good but we still dont know how he will do now days against the top guys in the cage, hopefully his contract permits him to cross over to the ufc soon. Great wins for the scrap pack

Mousasi absolutely picked Jardine apart. It was brutally one sided. Jardine kept Mousasi down for a good 60 seconds on the takedowns. Mousasi landed more from the bottom anyway. Plus he did more damage, compared to Jardine when he decided to take Jardine down.

Moussasi did beat jardine the second and third without question but it was no hamill/jardine. Plus moussasi started off slow in the first.

Josh Gross and Ariel both gave Jardine the first round (the only two journalists that I've read that scored it)

http://blog.fightmetric.com/2011/04/mousasi-vs-jardine-official-fightmetric.html

150-41 in round 1 Mousasi.

But you don't need to go by fight metric..you can, ya know, watch the fight without thinking takedowns that lead to an immediate stand up are any match to significant strikes landed...which was all Mousasi in round 1...even off his back.

Not to mention all the elbows Jardine took to the head going for takedowns just in that first round.

Come on guys...without the deduction, it's a 10-9 round for Mousasi.

Also, who cares what Gross and Ariel think? those guys are insiders who report news and get interviews...nothing suggests their opinion on who wins a fuckin fight holds any more weight than the average sherdogger. They arent considered "experts" and it's not their job to be. When people talk about journalists thought so and so won this or that like it confirms it, i just shake my head.

I can't believe Jardine was awarded a round at all. I scored that fight 29-26 Mousasi. Jardine got his ass beat bad the whole fight. Smells of a Dana White button.

Gil put on a nice show. Still doesn't look like someone who could be UFCs or Bellators LW champion though.

Gil looked as impressive as ever!

Mousasi got boned by a bad penalty

Daley fought to win, first time he's been stopped due to actual strikes

aoki did what i thought he would

great card all together

http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2011/4/12/2106244/strikeforce-diaz-vs-daley-deliver-solid-ratings
Strikeforce drew an average of 528,000 viewers for Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley on Saturday night according to MMA Junkie. Overall the recent show appears to have done the fourth highest MMA rating in Showtime history. The number isn't some kind of stunning success, but it is very good.
The peak audience, which coincided with a headlining title fight between welterweight champion Nick Diaz and Paul Daley, resulted in 806,000 viewers.

Think the draw is pretty weak sauce, thought it'd easily be number 2 all-time, surprising.

1. Strikeforce: Silva vs. Fedor - (February 2011): 741,000 viewers
2. Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg - (Aug 2009): 576,000
3. Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Cyborg [/w Herschel Walker] - (Jan 2011): 561,000
4. Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley - (Apr 2011): 528,000
5. Strikeforce: Miami [/w Diaz, Walker, Lashley] - (Feb 2010): 517,000

The difference between 2 and 4 is a few thousand viewers. 4 all time isn't bad at all considering what the top three are. Gina and Fedor were in "bigger" fights and especially at the time were bigger stars probably than Diaz is even now. The third event had Walker for a mainstream hook. I don't think these are bad ratings at all. Not having a GP fight is what held this card back. "weaksauce" is a negative outlook where there should be positivity.

I knew the numbers, but with the UFC buyout, marketing, 2 Title fights, Diaz, Japanese appeal, British appeal, I figured it'd challenge #1 and easily beat #2 all-time.

You know though, you have to wonder where this event might have been without the swell of interest due to the UFC's involvement. Weaksauce no, a little disappointing, maybe. Still, fourth all time is hard to hate on.
