he was the current champ going in. The challenger made almost 10x's that amount.

| Hendo helps SF pay the bills more than Cavalcante. He is a star in the sport and all time elite, his higher salary comes as no surprise. 5K to Liz Carmouche does though. She looked pretty good though. | |

We all know the reasons why, but still when then the challenger makes 10x's the amount the champ gets, it's worth a comment.

| All the main card fighters got paid pretty well except maybe Feijao who is probably still on a contract he signed before he went on a streak. I doubt Masvidal, Evangalista, Kennedy would make their salaries if the were in the UFC. Hell, Kennedy made as much if not more money for his fight than both Mir and Carwin did for their bouts with Lesnar.
Manhoef is about right. I don't see what you're saying LA.

| First off, in reality all fighters are underpaid but
The UFC just generally has a larger more consistent pay scale. Pay days across the board would just be a bit higher. Only exception would probably be Hendo who makes more without bonuses, but Hendo made 340K at UFC 100 because UFC bonuses are very favorable. The rest of the fighters would make money in tune with their standing in the Org. Kennedy would def make at least the same, then with bonuses much more. Compare him to Belcher who made 65K at UFC 113 just as a fight bonus. Carwin only made 40K losing to Brock, but compare that to Fiejao who actually was Champion, and it is still considerably less. How about Gurgel, 8K with bonus, made 15K at UFC 73.
I don't even care that much, just was thinking of the whole UFC would run this crazy monopoly as the only Org in MMA argument.

I don't even care that much, just was thinking of the whole UFC would run this crazy monopoly as the only Org in MMA argument. Gurgel won fight of the night at UFC 73 which added 7K to his purse which was originally on 7K...not to mention was on the main card with an 11-2 record. He made 8K to show without a bonus on a non-televised bout with a 13-7 record some years later. Gurgel has nothing to complain about..UFC would not even hire Gurgel at the moment and he probably won't get 8K to fight a low key bout anywhere else. The thing that is good about Strikeforce it allows MORE/extra fighters to make big show money, and it allows fighters deciding between orgs like Dan Henderson and Jake Shields as the first examples to go for more money elsewhere after looking at competing offers. UFC is definetly bigger on the bonuses and i don't know the details of Fejiao's contract, but i agree he is definetly underpaid considering he was the champ. The other champs like Diaz, Cyborg, Melendez, Souza all seem to make pretty good money, and even bonuses for Souza and Cyborg. I don't know what thats about.

| It wasn't even about Gurgel, just using him as an example, throw him out and I'm saying the same thing. Though Gurgel has a different standing in SF currently then when he was in the UFC, kind of a Guida for them. | |

| It wasn't a discussion of Hendo's payout
Though that came down to gaurenteed money, SF probably ovepaid to land a big name.
Looking at Hendo's UFC fights
UFC 100 340K with huge bonus UFC 88 (Palhares) 250K with bonus UFC 82 (Anderson) 100K in a loss

Henderson left StrikeForce to make more money well $$$$ was a part of it. But freedom to promote his company inside the cage was also a big part of it.

| Just reading he thread would give one a better idea of the discussion at hand.
But that is in regards to some who say if the UFC was the only major Org they would dictate fighter pay scale as they please and having other Orgs to keep them in check is needed. Although nothing is really showcasing that even now and fighter payouts would generally increase with the growth of the sport anyways.
