Vera BACK in UFC, Thiago fight changed to NC

According to Five Ounces of Pain (and MMA Junkie):

It has been learned that the result of (Brandon Vera vs. Thiago Silva)
is expected to be changed to a "no contest" following additional
scrutiny of Silva's post-fight drug test, and the promotion has
rescinded Vera's release, sources close to the event told MMAjunkie.com.




As of now, Vera merely is back on the roster and does not have a pending
booking. Until this past week, he was medically suspended for a broken
nose he sustained in the third round of the Silva fight, which took
place Jan. 1 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

lol, it's funny how his last fight is no longer a loss and the UFC machine reads that as eligible to stay. When guys put up better performances in one loss than he has in his last 3 and lose their jobs because their last fight has an L next to it. Do these guys even watch their own fights?

anyway, i wonder what Silva slip up was.

OH SNAP!!! cant believe that, any idea what Thiago was on?

It's a shame if he smoked some weed like Nick Diaz and lost his win because of it....but he probably juiced.

LOL, I doubt its that... they wouldn't give Vera another chance

Weed would have made his performance worse not better. Vera would've not got his job because of that. It was roids for sure. He probably used it to get over his back injury.

not exactly true, some people smoke weed or sherm and go work out 10 timmes harder

It does not matter what effect weed has on performance. If he tested positive for it post fight, it's the same as if he did steroids...no contest.

I doubt that was it, although i can easily see Thiago Silva smoking on a blunt.

It was probably a heavy dosage of who gives a flying fuck? Thiago can fight Brandon Vera after a huge turkey dinner and beat the piss out of him all the same.

Fight I saw was Thiago wanting no part of Vera's stand up, and resorted to wrestling his way to a top control win.

I don't care how fucked Vera's nose was, Thiago did little by way of offense in that fight.

i consider dominant positions on the mat offense. It's not like Silva was camping out in his guard or holding him against the cage the entire fight. He kicked his ass. Not wanting to stand when Vera never proved he can hang with Silva in grappling does not score points for Vera.

Yeah, just because he found out he could take him down and pass to really whatever position he felt like while pounding the hell out of him doesn't give Vera's performance any weight. Yes Vera was the technically superior striker but we knew that before the fight even started. What we didn't know was that Thiago was capable of completely raping Brandon on the ground, and get him there at will.

I'm happy for Vera if this gets him back but he could end up leaving just as quick if he doesn't bring it in his next fight imo. I hope he finishes someone

But it's also alot different then getting his ass kicked. If juice was involved, I'd have to believe it played a part, and may have been the difference in Thiago "dominant positioning" his way to victory.

1)Thiago, save for a 1 minute stretch late in the 3rd, did not pound the hell out of Vera.

2) while we may have thought Vera was the more techinical striker, did anyone think Thiago would want no part of a standing affair?

3)I don't know what he was on, but if it was a legit PED, I'd think that would play a huge part in his ability to take down, and keep down Vera.

King's likes to say "who cares" when it comes to ped's in sports, but the guys that don't take ped's are at a major disadvantage in relation.

I still think pain pills might be the reason, might also explain why Thaigo thought he was "clean".

as u do not know what Silva was busted for, u cannot make that statement.

Sure I can, I watched it happen. And besides that, since the Mir fight he is 3-6 in the UFC with zero good wins. He should be out the door

I agree, like I said before he should be thankful he signed such a sweet deal when he did. He was over paid for most of his UFC career.
