I have always found leaves work pretty good also to wipe a shitty ass.

I have wiped with leaves one time when I was a kid and couldn't make it home. The only other time I had to shit outside and didnt have anything to wipe with I used the top part of my sock after I ripped it up. You never know what is on leaves. I would use snow or my bare hand before using a leaf. I would hopefully be near some water to wash the shit off my hand. If not, I would use my underwear.
