Simple enough, have the best fight the best and fight often
HBO is the reason for this, overpaying scrubs like Andre Berto for 1-2 fights a year
Showtime is changing the landscape of it and forcing HBO to make those fights
HBO losing Pacquiao could be the best thing to happen to the sport
Shit, they are finally showcasing the lower divisions after years of ignoring it next week with a great match up in Donaire vs Montiel

I'm watching that one.
Boxing has work to do if they are to have what they once did in a fan base. The intrigue is in mma for me now, has it was in the 90's even when boxing was more interesting to me. I was an almost fan when I was young in that I am now the black sheep mma fan amongst a family of hardcore boxing fans. The sport they love isn't the one I grew up with though, it seemed like as I grew boxing shrank, boxing was not sliding up like MMA when I was to become hooked to one or the other. I was easily sold to mma. There are a load of boxing fans but I have a feeling the demographic is lopsided in a way that boxing might not like in that the lucrative 18-35 year old market is seeming more and more like the mma core. Make Tyson the commissioner of all boxing. His idea is just that, simple. And it makes a lot of sense.

Its a lot easier to follow MMA than Boxing
Marketed better, know the champs in each division, the up & coming challengers, and monthly shows
Its what Arum and Don King where doing with cards in the past Title fights, eliminators and prospects on the under cards. Stacked cards/events
HBO has a lot of power and they got too cozy with certain promoters and managers Overpay them for soft touch after another and just buy shitty fights
This is what is used to be like, thats just in 2003!
