| Yeah. I was on sherdog and all of a sudden Paul Buentello is a big time HW and big time loss for Strikeforce when most would not even remember or acknowledge he was with the organization now that he is going to the UFC. Another "best in the world" guy people can say Fedor is ducking.
Anyways, Paul Buentello will be good for fights with guys like Kongo, CroCop, Gonzaga, and Dos Antos.

| Well SF probably just lost their #5 HW. That'd be like the UFC losing Cro Cop or Mir. | |

I think they'll live. Strikeforce can just go sign Arlovski(which they will eventually) and they've dramtically improved their top 5. Buentello would have been a good tune up fight for Fedor to get used to the cage, but other than that he did not really have much of a future with Strikeforce. Just like Coker said. UFC on the other hand seems to be bringing back a lot of these old faces. Buentello is a good addition. I still don't understand Phil Baroni.

| Loss for Strikeforce only because we don't know what his contract was. | |

| How is a guy who is a journeyman going to turn down a six figure contract to fight Fedor. Seriously PB is the man but what in the fuck could he possibly have been thinking? | |

My guess is he did not think he coud beat Fedor. If Fedor smashes him, then it's possible Strikeforce gets rid of him, and UFC definetly would not take him back with the new "discredit Fedor's recent victories at all cost" initiative. It's probably a smart move on Buentello's part. Buentello was a middle of the pack fighter even in Strikeforce. He'll be one in the UFC as well. He can't beat Fedor and Overeem. He won't even fight Fedor. I would pick Werdum and Rogers to beat him. Atleast in UFC, they have a whole truckload of middle of the pack fighters to keep Buentello busy and of course paid and somewhat relevant. While the Strikeforce division lacks that kind of depth to keep a guy like Buentello busy. All i know is, if the guy turns down 6 figures to fight the best fighter in the world and he turns it down to go fight cans for no money(where have we heard this before), Strikeforce is better off without him. Before nuts get hugged, im talking about the kind of fighters Buentello will be facing in the UFC.He won't be fighting the top 5 of the division(which does not include Shane f'n Carwin) and if he does, UFC is wasting everybody's time and proving their division is 70% hype. I'm surprised Strikeforce was considering him to fight Fedor when they only have him for 3 fights.

| I can see that but seriously if you ask me this is a no lose situation for him. He was going to get a fat pay day a long with getting to test himself against the best fighter in the world. He will NOT get a 6 figure contract in the UFC and will probably never make it up the ranks far enough to do anything meaningful. I get what your saying but this was his chance and he fucked it up. It just irritates me is all. | |
