Albert Alvarez making his amateur debut Saturday

Al is the younger brother of Eddie Alvarez. At Bellator’s Philly Tryouts, he didn’t embarrass himself against pros and hung there on a mat full of some experienced professionals.

Sorry for the delay on this. He's a great wrestler. I was at the Ring Of Combat Show last night and missed his debut but here is what one of my friends wrote for his website.

Lets talk about Albert Alvarez. Like I said earlier this week. Who knows what to expect from him. I know he’s a monster wrestler out of, I think, North Catholic (I know somebody will correct me if I’m wrong). And his ground game is legit. But its his hands and his head movement that really impressed me. Not to mention the composure and discipline. The crowd was going ape bananas for Albert. But he went in like a professional, put together a fight that some 10+ pro fight veterans would pay for. He is the real deal. Albert Alvarez has “As far as he wants to go” pinned to his jacket.

Figured he'd have some solid boxing skills.
