| And he's using some basic MMAth to make his point... lol http://www.mmamania.com/2010/11/9/1803205/josh-thomson-if-wec-lightweights-were-that-good-they-would-have"They made it sound so great that a company went under. The simple fact of the matter was that the WEC failed and they put it with the UFC to carry it. To compare WEC lightweights to Strikeforce and the UFC is not fair because if they were that good, they would have been fighting for the UFC. I think the world of (Jamie) Varner, but I beat Hermes (Franca) and Hermes beat Varner. Varner was the WEC champ for awhile. So, where does that leave us?" | |

| Eh, I think a few of them belong. The UFC won't take long to weed out the dead weight. | |

| I agree with Josh to a point, most of the wec lw's will be cut soon if not right away, but using Varner isn't proving anything when he isn't wec's champ at LW. And we all know just because Josh beat Hermes and Varner didn't doesn't mean shit. Werdum beat Fedor so does that mean he would beat anybody Fedor beat? No. Obviously not | |

| I understand what Josh is doing, he's talking up his division, nothing wrong with that. Every SF fighter should be talking shit and compairing themselves to the ufc cause God knows Scott Coker doesn't have the balls to. They got to try to sell there brand more get people talking about them good or bad. | |

| Josh should talk about his loss the Guida
Bendo, Pettis, Varner and Cerrone are all 50/50 fights with Thompson
He's partially right in that I think the WEC LWs end up bottom middle of the UFC pack.

| The WEC lightweights by in large are a group of guys who have been signed since Zuffa took over. Same talent development team. LW is the most stacked division world wide and therefore is going to have many more "UFC quality" prospects. The WEC guys and the majority of the division in the UFC south of the top 8 or so are even. Some WEC guys will be cut, some UFC guys will be cut. | |

| * Darren Elkins vs. Edson Barboza * Paul Kelly vs. T.J. O'Brien * Nik Lentz vs. Tyson Griffin
Three fights on 123.
Any and all of these fighters could be cut with a loss. Griffin would be on a three fight losing streak(though he has enough name value to make a FW move an option to prolong his UFC life, but if he loses, he's done as a LW either way), Lentz made a particularly bad impression on the prelim show, despite a good UFC record, Kelly is off a loss, Elkins is off a loss, Barboza and O'Brien are making UFC debuts. At 155 pounds, as swollen as it is, nothing is guaranteed.
The losers of the majority of WEC LW bouts on the next two cards are also at risk.

Lentz has won too many straight UFC fights

The rest yeah, I was talking bigger names, like when Neer got cut. Three losses in a row? The UFC don't play like that homie. He'd either be cut or moved to FW. He'd need to get some wins in a small show. Maybe any other time they'd let that slip, but not with 30 other additions to the weight class. No one gives a shit about Lentz and anyone who knows his name says "oh that lay and pray guy". John Madsen said he was kind of informed that without an impressive win, even one loss would result in his being cut due to being boring. Gotta remember LA, this isn't business as usual. Good fighters who normally wouldn't lose their jobs might.

| John Gunderson, Terry Etim, Waylon Lowe, Duane Bang Ludwig, Gabe Ruediger, Aaron Riley, Paul Sass, Paul Taylor, Paul Kelly, Thiago Tavares, Andrei Winner, Gleison Tibau, Curt Warburton all are in immediate danger with one loss IMO. Spencer Fisher, Denis Siver, Joe Stevenson are bigger names I could also see the UFC parting ways with if they put in a bad performance.
Efrain being cut makes a lot more sense now. There aren't that many guys who are safe right now.

| The WEC has done a good job in recent months weeding out the worst fighters
Castillo Danny 9-3-0 5' 9" (175 cm) 155 (70 kg) Cerrone Donald 12-3-0, 1 NC 6' 0" (183 cm) 155 (70 kg) Downes Dan 6' 0" (183 cm) 155 (70 kg) Faaloloto Edward 5-0-0 5' 9" (175 cm) 155 (70 kg) Henderson Ben 12-1-0 5' 9" (175 cm) 155 (70 kg) Horodecki Chris 15-2-0 5' 8" (173 cm) 155 (70 kg) Jewtuszko Maciej 6' 0" (183 cm) 155 (70 kg) Kerr Will 9-2-0 5' 10" (178 cm) 155 (70 kg) Lamas Ricardo 9-1-0 5' 8" (173 cm) 155 (70 kg) Micklewright Zack 9-2-0 6' 0" (183 cm) 155 (70 kg) Njokuani Anthony 13-4-0 6' 0" (183 cm) 155 (70 kg) Palaszewski Bart 34-13-0 5' 9" (175 cm) 155 (70 kg) Pettis Anthony 10-1-0 5' 10" (178 cm) 155 (70 kg) Poirier Dustin 5' 9" (175 cm) 155 (70 kg) Ratcliff Ed 7-3-0 5' 10" (178 cm) 155 (70 kg) Reinhardt Jason 20-1-0 5' 6" (168 cm) 155 (70 kg) Roller Shane 8-3-0 5' 10" (178 cm) 155 (70 kg) Roop George 11-7-1 6' 1" (185 cm) 155 (70 kg) Shalorus Kamal 6-0-2 5' 8" (173 cm) 155 (70 kg) Varner Jamie 16-4-3, 2 NC 5' 8" (173 cm) 155 (70 kg) Zhang Tiequan
Most guys are at risk of getting cut with a loss on this list aside from Varner, Cerrone, Tiequan, Henderson and Pettis. These bolded fighters are the worst ones or the most at risk. There are a few names on this list I'd just cut anyway. Downes is the worst fighter on the LW roster. Reinhardt is 41 and only fought for Zuffa once. Roop and Micklewright are not in this division anymore.
Roller, Shalorus, Lamas, Castillo, Njokuani, Paleszewski, Jewtuszko and Kerr are the middle of the pack guys who if they lose may not deserve to be cut, but might be cut anyway.
Lamas, Njokuani, Jewtuszko are the guys in this group with the most long term potential.

| Griffin has lost to just Gomi and Dunham, both in the top 10 on here, he'll be fine
The fighters you listed have more cuttable names

| LA - three losses gets 90% of UFC fighters cut. Griffin isn't a TUF winner, he isn't a major local draw, he's just been with the company on the cusp for a long time. You're not accounting for the additions and the market at the time right now. This isn't business as usual and this won't be fair for everyone. There are just too many guys right now to hang onto a guy with three losses, especially if his last loss is to Nick Lentz. He loses that and he's done as a LW at least.

Danny Downes may be the worst fighter at LW in the WEC but at least he's got his campmates sense of humor.

| I don't care for his logic, which is a little outdated because Varner is like the 3rd or 4th best LW out of the WEC guys but i think JT is as good as any of those guys. Henderson, Varner, Cowboy, Pettis, Roller, etc. are all good fighters but i'm not really that excited about their introduction into the UFC LW division. I think it's a slap in the face to guys like Sot, Sherk, Dunham, Gomi that the winner of Bendo-Pettis will get a shot at the title. I know they want to milk the whole title unification thing but come on. Sherk would whoop these guys. | |

| They wouldn't cut Fabiano with a boring win but if he loses badly I almost wonder? With his current WEC deal I doubt it. | |
