Scott Coker interview summary: The Fight Show w/ Mauro Ranello 11/2/2010
Taken from a Sherdog post
- has NOT been in negotiations of any kind with Bjorn Rebney but is interested in doing so
- Bjorn has been texting an old number of Coker's that he hasn't used for month
- Is tired of Bjorn dragging it through the media
- "We are not interested in doing business with the media" (in regards to Rebney's constant badgering through the media)
- CLI came up with a couple hundred designs for the new Strikeforce logo before Strikeforce picked their latest one
- First quarter of 2011 Fedor should be back
- Has not had direct contact with Gina but has exchanged "a few" text messages
- Proud of the fighters that have come out of the Challengers Series with guys like Woodley, Rockhold, Cormier, Saffiedine, Evangelista, and Johnson as examples
- Billy Evangelista has possible fights with Thomson, Noons, and Masvidal to look forward to
- Melendez vs. Aoki 2 isn't finalized, but Coker believes it will happen on NYE
- Lavar Johnson could fight Rogers, Arlovski, or even Shane Del Rosario up next
- Many heavyweight fights coming up in 2011
- Rumors of a heavyweight tournament are just that, rumors. There are no real plans for one
- Evangelista Cyborg, Paul Daley, Scott Smith, Tyron Woodley, and Tarec Saffiedine are all in the welterweight mix currently
- Feels Strikeforce has been doing a good job of both buying talent and beginning to develop new talent
- Winner of Babalu vs. Hendo will most likely face Feijao
- Mousasi will most likely be back in February 2011
- Is concerned about DREAM's not paying fighters, but will continue with their fighter exchange relationship
- Not sure about an immediate rematch between JZ and Thomson but is sure they will fight again
- Kelly Kahl, an executive at CBS, is still in contact with Strikeforce in regards to a 2011 return to the network (and kicked Coker's ass at EA Sports MMA. Kahl was Diaz and Coker was Cung Le if anyone cares)
- Feels there's a good chance to see Diaz vs. Mayhem, the main issue is the weight at which the fight will be at
- Is happy for Zuffa with the merger of the WEC into the UFC
- Looking to do 18-20 events again in 2011
