Daniel Cormeir destroys three prospects in three weeks

This friday fights for the KOTC hwy belt vs interesting prospect and KOTC champ Tony Johnson. to be televised on HDnet.

Fights the next saturday(assuming he's healthy) vs Kevin Riley at SF Houston.

And remember Cormier, the olympic wrestler who is 3-0 with 3 ko's, just fought on July 31st in australia, winning the XMMA belt(it's as ugly as it sounds). so 3 fights in less then a month for Cormier.

Funny side note. the KOTC fight will be televised on HDNet the same night as SF's challenger card, so it will be in competition with SF. then the next week Cormier's fight, as of now, is not part of the televised portion of the houston card. And it looks as though Johnson is the much tougher opponent, Riley looks can-like. Another head scratcher from SF.

UPDATE ; He was utterly dominant in this run, winning all three bouts in under a round.

Not a huge fan of this. It really doesnt give ur body time to recover fighting 3 times in a month but I guess as long as he isnt getting beat up it isnt to bad. there is just always the scare of a fighter getting seriously hurt doing this.

agree, and I think that with the houston fight not being part of the TV plan I think they'd quelch that fight if he has a tough fight at KOTC. he won his july 31st fight by 1st rnd KO,

And as a wrestler, he's pretty used to fighting often.

I like it. As long as he is fighting reasonable guys this is only good for him.

I think this Johnson cat poses a threat. I posted about him in the prospect section. Riley on the other hand looks like easy pickings.

Jason Riley is a good mid tier HW. That's the guy Sylvia KO'd in his first fight after the Mercer fiasco.

Two weeks, two Heavyweight titles. So far so good for Cormier. He's quickly expanding his resume and gaining experience. All these wins will help to shoot him up the rankings in Strikeforce as well. If he beats Riley I'd hope they start giving him main card slots against better known opponents. Such as Bobby Lashley or Lavar Johnson.

i dont see a problem wirh this I know a certain someone who beat Alex Cook, Maurice Smith, Masakatsu Funaki and Leon Dijk in a 2 day period

rested a month beat Bas Rutten then rested 20 days and drawed Royce Gracie

So Strikeforce has the KOTC HW Champ now. Maybe Cormier wanted to beat Johnson and get that title so maybe SF puts him on the TV card on the 21st? I think they should.

If he wants on the TV card, KO Riley in 1:23 and problem solved.

KOTC and XAMMA belt's. They aired 6 fights last night, only 4 scheduled thus far for next week. I figure he walks through Riley, and they squeeze it in somewhere.

They were able to squeeze them all in because the first round tournament fights were six minutes long and they had some nice first round finishes. Cormier being on TV depends a lot on what Kennedy, Jacare, Mo and Calvancante do.

SF's is over, and I wasn't exactly enthralled, so I'll go Bellator, at least I'll have time to mull over the upcoming rds of the tourney.

Im just not that into one night affairs.

good points cappin still havent gotten to watch eitehr but on paper bellatorrs was deeper and had the number 1 p4p women in the world so gotta go with that

The 135 lb tournament was productive. The young fighter from Finland handled herself well against Tate, losing a close decision, and Fight Girl Monster managed to sub a Brazlian BJJ blackbelt inside a three minute round before losing a tough fight to Takedown Tate.
