Dana bans Vuvuzelas

In what's likely more of a good-natured publicity stunt than a vital new policy, UFC officials today announced a ban of vuvuzelas at this weekend's UFC 116 event.

Vuvuzelas are horn-shaped noisemakers popularized (and perhaps overused) during this year's FIFA World Cup.

UFC president Dana White is credited with implementing the ban.

"This decision was pretty simple for me," White stated. "Vuvuzelas make the most horrific sound I've ever heard. I'd rather let Brock punch me in the face than hear 15,000 people blow on those things.

Now I want to buy a Vuvuzela! Just to piss him off and annoy him. Knowing DW and Lorenzo, they will somehow turn this into a fucking product that they sell on ufc.com though

funny thing is I have an iphone app for a vuvuzelas, so I'm sure plenty of other fans could do the same. Not as loud but still loud and annoying.

I wouldn't mind hearing them during the fights on TUF. All the yelling is annoying as hell. I usually turn the volume down when the fights start on the show.

This is the best idea Dana has ever had. When I watch the World Cup I cant stand to listen to all that BullShit in the back ground.

just type in vuvuzela in the app search feild and you will have a ton of apps to choose from.

I would love to hear Vuvuzelas ruin the staredown between Brock and Carwin.

I never heard them at the UFC events, but if i did, i'd want them to be banned so good call i guess.

once again I agree with dana on this one. most annoying shit in the world. Soccer its fine cause of the down time in between shots but no so much in mma.

Yeah we could be hearing about NBA draft, Summer Leagues, mini camps and baseball....first half of the season baseball. Yeah exciting stuff.

I've enjoyed World Cup Soccer myself...and a lot of people do care about Soccer at this time..even those who don't usually care for Soccer.

At the end of the Daily Show the other day they had a clip of an American weeping because USA got knocked out.
