Kendall Grove speaks out about SpikeTV and TUF...and pays the price.

Here is what he said on tapout radio -

Spike TV pretty much runs everything on The Ultimate Fighter. They could be sub-leasing the UFC name, but I'm sure Dana and the UFC are getting a nice little pay check from Spike but other than that, Spike runs the thing. Dana doesn't choose who's going to be on the show, it's Spike executives."

"Even when I was on there in the earlier seasons, they were picking a couple guys with funny personalities. I'm pretty sure I got on there not because of my good looks, but because I had a pretty good personality."

"Everything is ratings to these guys. Just like that season where they shot [expletive] inside the fruit...people do that stuff. Why? Because of ratings. Is it a health violation? Yeah, but did you see the Spike TV people stop that from happening? It sells ratings and that's all they care about. They could give two [expletives] about our career."

"They just care about the six-weeks that they're shooting and get as much drama and stupidity out of us. That's all we are to them is cattle and sheep. They way they run things, they're slowly controlling us to be like that."

So what does Spike do? They bumb his fight with Goran Reljic off the SpikeTV Pelims Live telecast to the unaired prelims. Petruzelli vs Romero will replace it.


I like guys who speak their mind and against things like this. Grove made a new fan.

It sucks that Goran has to pay the price too.

Goran is possibly going to lose badly to Grove. Matchup wise I think Grove poses a lot of problems for Goran Reljic. Grove has lost when speed and power physically overwhem his defense and chin. Based on their UFC fights, Grove owns both speed and technique advantages in addition to a good reach advantage. Goran has not appeared light footed or particulary good defensively at all in any of his UFC fights. He isn't a strong wrestler. He isn't a particularly imposing puncher and his poor defense makes his counter punching less of a threat. If he is the same type of fighter he has been, barring a Grove mistake, he will lose and he will be finished.

The bout isn't a total mismatch though. Goran has good kicks and does have the ability to rally to finish exploitable fighters. Grove can be an exploitable fighter. Goran has had injuries and other factors that have hindered some of his performances. I hope he comes in healthy and off a good training period where he was able to stay healthy and work to improve his technique. With added head movement and defense he could easily expose Groves less than stellar chin.

I don't like that it is off Prelims Live. This would have been an entertaining bout with almost certainly a finish.

I think Grove poses a problem with Goran due mostly to his length standing. He was laying a beating down on Munoz before that 45 second turn around that led to Munoz winning the fight. Munoz is twice the wrestler and a much more powerful striker than Goran is. Reljic's back injury took more out of him than he wants to admit and it was clear in his fight with Dollaway, Grove is a better fighter than Dollaway. Grove also presents problems on the ground for Goran, also due to his length.

I'm rollin with the Da Spyder (Worst nickname in MMA) here, I really like Goran but this just seems like a bad matchup for him.

I actually like Goran in the fight and wouldnt mind seeing it on Spike but u have to respect the guy for speaking his mind even though it probably isnt the best career move for him.

He is right and respect him for that

At the same time though he should remember not to bite the hand that feeds. If he wants to speak out about it do it on a less outright "your a monster!" manner.

He didn't learn from Tito's mistakes???

Grove looks up to Tito and has been a member of team punishment. He probably likes that Tito smacktalks Dana.

The difference here is that Tito was Champion and or former Champion when he talked shit to Dana. He was already too big a star to demote to the under card.
