Ben Askren vs. Tyron Woodley (hypothetical)

Who would you take in that fight?

After seeing Woodley bounce back huge from his loss to Nate, I think he is going to have a successful MMA career, but don't see him cracking the top 5 in the WW division.

I would like it if he eventually headed for bellator and fought Askren.

Ben wins 8/10 times IMO.

If Askren could get the takedown he wins and if he can't he loses. It's as simple as that.

No one has really tried to take Woodley down, so it's very hard to judge how good Tyron's take down defense. The only one who tried to implement that strategy against Woodley is Nathan Coy who had success, but that was Tyron's 6th fight in his career.

Askren takes him down and grinds it out in my opinion, I think Askren would be able to relentlessly take Tyron down

You saw that fight last night and your first thought was you would like it if he was eventually in Bellator?

there just two very similar fighters in that there grinding wrestlers, so i can see the hypothetical

Woodley seems to have a lot more power and speed and could KO Askren on the feet, I think Askren would be able to keep Woodley down if he managed to get him there, can't say about Woodleys TD defense so hard to say, if their wrestling ends up neutralized, Woodley has the advantage.

thats the thing no ones wrestling in the division can neutralize askrens

No it was my 3rd thought. It went something like 1 that was impressive, 2 he won't be a UFC champ, 3 he could do well in bellator, 4 Bobbit has a tiny dong and is too cool for school.

This. Askren is just that much better at wrestling imo.

Askren is on a different level wrestling than Woodley. UD.
