Im stunned.

There was still a couple fights i wanted to see him in UFC. Like Marquardt and Silva #2, but damn...huge for Strikeforce.

i had a feeling this was gonna happen. Shame on the ufc for refusing to compromise with him. He deserves a big pay day just give it to him.

Hendo's camp says no deal is done with Strikeforce. They had a meeting with Strikeforce but no deal is imminent. Scott Coker said the same thing.

This actually crossed my mind when I heard Hendo's contract was up.

But is the UFC the org that should give him that pay day? I don't know. He's not a UFC lifer, his prime years came outside the org, very little likelyhood of him winning another title in the org.

Biggest reason for keeping him would be to keep him away from strikeforce, who for those who have not noticed has made HUGE gains against the UFC monoply in less then one year.

Might be worth it for strikeforce to overpay on this one. He brings solid respectability, both in terms of long term resume and a current 3 fight win streak, and perhaps more importantly gives a very legitimate challenger to Gegard, who about a month looked to have no one worth while to fight.

dana better get off his ass and make it happen. Being a big hendo fan I dont want to see him go. A mousasi fight would be nice but thats it. maybe king mo. rampage and now hendo what the fuck man. nate vs hendo would of been epic. or hendo and shogun at some point. And yes I know hendo wants more than he is worth. 150k to show 150k to win. tops

There's a couple of good matchups for hendo at both 185 and 205 in strikeforce.

185) Hendo Shields. Hendo Lawler. Hendo Le(reaching a bit, I know). 205) Hendo Gegard, Hendo Mo.

How long till he could fight? UFC contracts with huge stars have super long nocompete periods and negotation periods.

He can compete right away. His contract ended because it was fulfilled, he didn't walk away from the contract or anything like that.

They usually have six month noncompete clauses though where the UFC can counter any offer.

hey i wont complain if strikeforce signs him, Mousasi needs a legit opponent and there are a couple of decent match ups at MW, but i did really want to see him get a 2nd shot at Anderson and also fight Marquardt, but it's the ufc's loss. I think the casual mma fan is alot more familiar with Dan Henderson than Vitor Belfort.

I knew this was fucking coming!!! Great if I am lucky he fights Gegard. Then what? He would destroy Shields or Lawler. Personally, I think The UFC and Hendo need to sack up a little. UFC needs to offer more and Hendo needs to be willing to take less. He probably wants Couture/Lesnar money, but he doesn't put butts in seats like they do. That is not being disrespectful, that's business. The good part is he will still be getting checks from the UFC, because they constantly repackage events for overseas and the fighters get a cut of the events from the company.
