All UFC main events to be 5 rounders from now on

Its finally official. Any main event announced from this point forward will be a 5 round fight, regardless of whether or not a belt is on the line. This goes for numbered events, as well as Fight Nights and UFC on VS cards

But, how many more finishes in the 4th and 5th could realistically be expected?

How about we just look at the past five years... say UFC 60, end of May 2006.

51 five round title fights
63 three round main events
114 cumulative fights in sample

32 of 51 five round title fights were finished .... 63%
35 of 63 three round main events were finished .... 59%
67 of 114 cumulative fights in sample are finished .... 55%

3 five round fights out of 51 finished in the 4th or 5th rounds .... 6%

6% of the 63 three round main events is 4. In the past five years we could estimate that we missed out on four finishes in fights that were main events that were only 3 rounds long, and we also can estimate we would of gained an extra ten minutes of said fights 24 times in place of other fights on the card that might of been aired.

It's insignificant and skates around the true issue on this subject, strange judging.
