JDS vs Reem

Who wins right now and why?

Reem is better all around in stand up and has more power imo. BJJ is up in the air, but I would give JDS the edge. It would be a stand up fight imo and Reem is the better striker so I would go with Reem.

reem. i think he would beat JDS in the stand up game with his kicks and take him down and pound him out. i believe he has enough strength to hold JDS down and control him.

This is one fight where I'm not going to even pretend to know how to predict what would happen. JDS's speed could give Overeem trouble because as noted in the other thread he's adopted a plod forward style where he throws some kicks, lets his hands go at mid-range and anytime they're close he tries to grab and throw the knee. Its a good style for K-1 with those gloves to block shit, but I don't how effective it would be fighting someone with the accuracy of JDS with MMA gloves that can break through the guard. Really hard fight to predict

Reem is noted though for his ability to transition between MMA and K-1 striking. Still, very hard to predict. I think though that JDS has much less range. He appears to be more of a boxer than he does a kick boxer, as his knees and kicks seldom come and are not reliable weapons at distance based on his UFC fights. Everything is predicated on power combinations in the pocket.

Right now, I'm thinking Overeem might have an advantage standing for these reasons. He might actually not be more skilled on his feet, natural in his boxing than JDS, but his combined speed and power compensate for that to make him better because if his skill isn't better, it is still very potent and only a shade behind JDS's if so. And it's not to say JDS isn't strong or fast either, he is, but if it comes down to two guys like this getting to a point of throwing down during a fight, it almost turns into a race. If your not first your last.

Fight on the ground? I have to go with Overeem. Don't know enough about who JDS is on the ground to really favor him there. I do know he has a talent for keeping a fight on the feet though, it could be tough for the Reem to take him down, but a traditional take down is not the only way a fight ends up on the mat, knockdowns take many there, and it would be no surprise if one or several happen. Well, these guys hit to hard for several, comes back to that race aspect.

These questions hurt to think about because the framework for which the possibility of the fight happening does not currently exist. This has been and even more so after Friday's K-1 GP, one of the hottest who would win discussions in MMA. And it will be, but a lot remains to be seen from these guys that could change the discussion. JDS has a fight with Cain coming up, Biggest fight in HW MMA in the known future. Overeem has Werdum in a big match, but more importantly to me, it's him competing with a top level MMA fighter again, something he has done, just not so much of in recent years.

I'm gonna say JDS, he does just box for the most part, but is soo effective, and while Reem utilizes kicks more, I think JDS has the advantage striking. On the gorund, well we do't really know at all with JDS, so I'll say Reem, he's pretty solid there anyways. A deciding factor for me is although Reem has the size and most likely strength advantages, I think JDS can take punishment better then Reem can, at least from what I've seen in the past. But

Extra note: right now I think Reem is the best HW in SF, going off who I think could beat who, not resume obviously.

LA you think Reem would beat Fedor? I don't think he stands a chance. JDS would beat Reem. Fedor would beat both.

I think Reem wins by KO from knees from the clinch. I think Reem would land big kicks to the body from the outside that will frustrate JDS into wanting to press Reem up against the cage which will put in danger of some of the most deadly knees in mma.
