Faber vs Cruz 2

How do you think this fight goes? Do you think this fight could be a headliner on a PPV card?

I think this fight will be a headliner but will have a nice co-main event with it. Maybe like Wandy vs Leben kind of thing.

maybe headline a uk card. i could see them as a co main on any other card though

Headliner? mm..it could but with the UFC as deep as it is now might be a Co-main with another Title fight ahead of it, or have a big fight paired with it if not.

Faber/Cruz duece, Faber is just a better fighter IMO, it won't be a quick finish like the first time, but I'll say Faber RNC Rd 3.

No way would the UFC put this on a UK card. That eliminates the ability to sell fights. That would be a huge mistake. Tape delay cards don't sell. Faber is a Sactown arena sellout PPV all day.

Urijah Faber has fought on PPV for the UFC essentially already. The UFC brought these guys in to sell on PPV under the UFC brand.

You'd want to bring in a nice co-main, but that is standard procedure for the UFC anyway. This is a headliner.

I think it's possible but a lot of UFC fans probably never watch WEC. There are a lot of casual fans out there and I think they will wait a while and establish the merge before they make it a headliner.
It will definitely happen though at some point.

i just think many casual fans dont know much about the wec yet for it to be a main event. when i told 2 of my friends about the merger they asked "are they any good".

Scotty vs Faber is going to be a sick fight. I'm going to love it if that happens. My fav in that division will always be Torres but Scotty and Faber are right behind him.

i think faber takes it again, and it could sell as a main event but i'd rather they start out with these guys as co events first

Yes it could headline a card easy. No reason to keep underselling < 155 divisions. They are the most entertaining. tough fight to pick right now.

Yeah "we" know that, but "they" don't. Casual fans = PPV buys.

Well casual fans can fuck themselves imo. If they don't know they will. Catering to expectations is safe and stupid. Put your best product out if you want people to really take notice.

Yep. At this level I don't buy into the whole 'do this for the sake of people who aren't big fans' approach. MMA and the UFC have a pretty big and growing fan base. It's gonna get bigger by putting out the best products, and UFC just got a handful of valuable assets with WEC.

Why are people saying this isn't a main event when they already did good numbers relatively speaking as an unbranded WEC card with Faber as the headliner?

PPV buyers know who Urijah Faber is, and if not they'd find out through typical UFC marketing. They'd have to do a Primetime but they could do it. With a solid co-main this sells great.

Let me ask you this. Let's fast forward a bit. Aldo and Faber have already debuted in the UFC, both won. Which fighter sells more as a PPV headliner for the UFC? Aldo or Faber? Faber because he had the more developed name? Or Aldo because of his electric style?

Hard to say, but American faces sell more. If Aldo knew English and talked shit, that's another story. MMA gyms in Brazil need to also teach English.

Good point. Aldo might be electric enough to overcome that. But I give Faber the edge. But when Aldo is about 3 fights deep in the UFC it could be different.

But the UFC is not looking for relatively speaking, they are looking for good #'s for a UFC event. I don't think Faber vs Cruz does that.

I would think Zuffa would want to work the WEC guys into the mix(see Aldo), get these guys some UFC spotlight, let the fans learn who these guys are, not throw them at the top of a card and see what happens.
