| I'm watching an older Muhammad Ali beat Ron Lyle on ESPN Classic and is struck me that were Ali's legs (arguably his greatest gift) only decent instead of immortal, he might well STILL have become heavyweight champ and been considered great.
I wonder how many great fighters throughout history would we guess we could say that about. Take away their greatest natural gift and still have ended up being great?
Louis without his power? No.
Robinson without his power (it may not be his greatest gift)? Probably.
Pep without his reflexes? Dunno. A great ring brain makes up for a lot and Pep post plane crash was still pretty special.
Jeffries without his inhuman ability to absorb punishment? Nope
Floyd without his legs? I think the answer is a lot like Pep.
I realize this is the ultimate in woulda coulda shoulda and hence isn't worth a cup of warm spit. Just wondering what names you guys would come up with.

| Totally agree that Ali without his legs is still great - great chin, handspeed and smarts.
Fraizer without that hook isn't even good. Foreman without his power is nothing as well.
