| Just got back home from the V.A. Hospital in Houston. Word: getting myself in good physical shape (sit-ups, push-ups, lifting weights, and 3 mile walks, et al) 12 weeks prior to going to Houston, helped me tremendously in seeing Lola through her ordeal. (whew!) The surgery to remove the 2 brain tumors began this past thursday morning at 9:00 AM, finished at 2:00 PM and was sucessfull. Other than minor/temporary problems with her vision and memory, Lola came through the surgery like a Champ, and her mental condition and spirit is execellent. Due to swelling caused by the surgery, which affected the motor function in her left leg, Lola does have issues walking, the V.A. is supplying a wheelchair and a walker. We're optimistic that as the swelling subsides, the motor function in her left leg will gradually improve the next few weeks, and she'll be walking fairly normally again soon. Thanks for all your words of encouragement, and prayers et al, Lola sends you her love, and said to tell you all that she really appreciated the support. If any of you have any questions, feel free to fire away, and i'll do my best to give you an answer, i'll be posting a few more updates, as soon I get them.

Amazing how being fit helps isn't it? Yes Marble, Lola is a tough, no doubt about it, yet, she's the sweetest lady i've ever known. Being fit and/or in shape makes all the difference in the world, it brings out the best in you, and sometimes you need to be at your very best. In a few weeks I might post a thread asking everyone what kind of workout they do. (if any) cheers

No Ali, she was given the name a long time before "Lola" by the Kinks came out with that song, her grandmother was also a Lola. I do however sing the Kinks song to her from time to time, she likes it. Seems like there's another tune about "Lola" but right now I can't think who does it. BTW, although Lola will have to use a wheelchair and a walker for a while, she's doing great, and just as feisty as ever.

Lola is doing great today, (Thursday, Oct. 7th) she still had/has issues with walking mainly because after the brain surgery she no control over her left foot. Today however, she was able to move her toes on her left foot, and she's getting control back in the foot. With a little help from me or a cane, she can pretty much walk slowly on her own, get to the bathroom, move around the house et al. I'm thinking she's going to eventually make a full recovery, and be good as new.. more later, off to work.. Thanks again to all you guys who said prayers and words of encouragement, it was appreciated.

Thanks again to all you guys who said prayers and words of encouragement, it was appreciated. Exercise every part of her left side a couple times a day. I know she is probably going to rehab, but it should speed up the process. Move the Joints in her fingers, wrist, elbow, shoulder, leg, knee, ankle, and toes.

Everyday she's getting stronger, it's really amazing to see, I couldn't be happier with her progress. I will however try some of the exercises you've recommended.
