Not interested. The season is fin the way it is. Just opens the doors for more injuries and more meaningless games. And all the single season records would be in jeopardy of being broken in easier fashion. It's a money thing.

I'm not in favor of that bullshit anyways. Just another way the owners are trying to get that money. They want to get 2 free games from the players, 2 games to get money from fans....FUCK YOU OWNERS! FUCK YOU!

I like better football. They need off season workouts and preseason.

Pfft. Rugby League is a harder sport played with no pads or helmets and we have a 26 week season.

Spoken like someone who has never played either game. Wink

I've played both in college and the sustained violence level simply isn't comparable. Two reasons. In football blocking is required so there isn't a single collision on a play, there are 8-10. Second, you misunderstand what helmets and pads do. They don't merely protect, they are WEAPONS. Think of it this way, when does one throw a punch with maximum power? Bare fisted when a hand might get broken? Or when wrapped and wearing a boxing glove? Why isn't rugby technique like that of American football? Because there would be too many injuries for a rugby match to be finished.

I know two NFL trainers personally. There is, for all intents and purposes, a 100% injury rate in the NFL. Everyone has an injury all the time. All an 18 game schedule does is lead to more injuries which leads to inferior substitutes playing. No thanks.

You haven't played Rugby League. You played Rugby Union. We call Rugby Union, Rugby League for wimps. I've played Rugby League my whole life. I've broken my hand and foot, dislocated my shoulder and knee, had many muscle strains and tore my groin. We play 2 40 min halves and there are no attack and defense teams. You stay on the field for both. Try tackling a 260 pound guy 30 times a game and having to run straight into him all game long without any protection and then tell me which game is harder.

Exactly my point! You CANNOT use the same violent techniques because you get injured! In Amercian football there are roughly 120 plays a game. That is 900+ violent collisions where 260 pounders are AVERAGE, not BIG.

The physics just aren't close.

Not even close at all. Brutal Rugby hits are tame compared to the airborne assaults of the NFL.

Rugby League hits are face to face though. Hitting a man when he's not even looking at you is cowardly.
