Subject: Jean Marc Mormeck was offered the chance to face Wladimir Klitschko Thu Sep 23, 2010 1:13 pm
• Wladimir Klitschko's representatives offered former cruiserweight champ Jean Marc Mormeck (35-4, 22 KOs), who is 2-0 as a heavyweight, a shot at the title on Dec. 11. However, Klitschko adviser Shelly Finkel told ESPN.com that Mormeck's asking price was much more than they planned to spend on an opponent, so the fight won't happen. But Finkel added that Mormeck, whose heavyweight victories have come against Vinny Maddalone and Fres Oquendo in his last two bouts, said he might be able to deliver a lucrative site in Paris and that the fight could happen in the spring. "If Mormeck brings a site, Wladimir would be very interested in defending the title in France," Finkel said. Klitschko (55-3, 49 KOs) knocked out Samuel Peter in their rematch on Sept. 11 for his ninth defense.

why the fuck would wlad make an offered who just robbed fres oquendo not long ago. mormeck's past done.wlad should aim higher and this fight would be pointless. i think even the cheerleader would agree.

My only guess is Wlad wants to taunt Haye by beating a former opponent of his, or he wants to crack France.

Does this boxing forum discuss actual fights or just fights that won't happen? The "this guy offered this fight but declined" or "this guy ducked this guy" to "signed fight that will actually happen" ratio is staggering.

That whole thing is an inside gag kind of designed to mock the original boxing slogan. We do WHO R U PICKINGS? for all major MMA fights now. I've got an archive of MMA posters with that slogan. Also that isn't the Nog you're thinking of. Frank Mir's last fight was a title fight.
Does my original premise stand then?

The best dont fight the best in boxing in right now, its one of its major flaws
So yes you'll see a lot of that shit right now, in this case, Mormeck is shot, nobody wants to see this fight

you know what's funny gomez these mma fans are riding high based on just TWO ppvs they had this summer. for boxing the month of november looks insane with the pac card and sergio-williams and let's not forget marquez-katsidis. i for one im actually glad boxing's having these problems because it will force promoters to do what they are doing in november. if they want to see some club fighters that are going to end up in missionary and doggie style position during a fight then good for them. i just don't understand why they come over here to complain. i know bird and ali go over there but they acctually like the sport and contribute to that forum unlike wolf does over here.

Seriously, keep bringing up Toney-Couture or Silva-Chael in Oakland that barely outdrew ANDRE WARD! And no steroids BS
The fall/winter line up is loaded
And as we've stated before, boxing is global, Calderon-Segura & Martinez-Burns!

Koscheck is upgraded from that point. No one knew about GSP's wrestling then. It's a compelling fight, even if it may not be competitive anyway on paper for some. I have a feeling Kos will put up a good fight though.
As for UFC 119, the entire MMA media is trashing it and picking it to be the worst performing UFC in years. I'm thinking like -200K buys. Not every event is going to be a winner. Bad events happen in the UFC, but are somewhat rare. Kind of like good fights in boxing.
I'll buy it though because CC kicking Mir's head off is a dream for me.

Toney Couture wasn't a headliner....
That was just an excuse for MMA to laugh at boxing.

Anyway the UFC has had 3 or 4 PPVs since the start of the summer that have done close or over a million buys.
