| ...and with Mayweather's value taking a significant hit for numerous reasons, what becomes the next million buy fight for US boxing? No turning this into another discussion about how modern fighters suck, fight promoters suck, old fighters were better, boxing is dying, boxing is not dying, elves who stick bananas in their asses or any of the usual conversations this turns into.
Strictly, which fighters take over on PPV if this happens?

| People will still pay to see Mayweather in big fights if he stays undefeated. |

| You're making a mistake in your premise.
Even if Manny loses he is STILL a giganitc PPV force.

Even if Manny loses he is STILL a giganitc PPV force. One loss sure, he can still sell cards, but I would find it hard to believe as many as he has been, and if his prime is over his PPV prime is over. Manny isn't except from the laws of PPV physics.

| That's a good question. i think the answer lies not in one particular fighter, but in better fight cards with multiple match ups. Promoters need to mix it up more. Instead of a card featuring mostly fighters in a certain weight class, maybe a better mix. | |

| Maybe if they stack more cards like in the UFC. Maybe like on the Wlad-Peter card they have Mosley fighting as the co-main event and Vic Darchinian fight on the card as well. |

But the laws of PPV physuics don't say single losses mean much. Tyson and Oscar were both HUGE draws even after multiple losses.

| They had been around awhile, like Chuck Liddell who is similarly exempt to a degree with 115 bringing in 480k, where as Pacman hasn't been around as long and has been a bankable novelty, but hasn't become beloved like Oscar and Liddell, or mystified like Tyson.
In short - I don't think he has the same "it" factor.

He also isn't American. If he starts losing his name will go downhill quicker than an American. |

| Pacquiao was the sports cover story in USA today last week. The article was more or less stating that he's the big draw in boxing and how he doesn't need Mayweather to make money. He has that it factor. | |

| Not speaking English and not being an American is obviously going to contribute, and while we could dig up stats for that, I dearly hope we shouldn't have to. Maui no need to devil's advocate out of gratuitous masturbatory delight on this one. | |

As usual Wolfe and Freak have zero data. Why should anything change?

| Ok - looking at boxing, MMA, and pro-wrestling, pick out the foreign, non English speaking fighters that also had this "it factor" and maintained it after they suffered a loss. My evidence is there has never been one. The lack of existence of something is typically a solid standard to go by when trying to disprove the existence of something. Have a good day. | |

| How many fighters have a Nike signature shoe and an exclusive endorsement from the largest and most lucrative shoe company in the world? Id say that there is an it factor right there.

| Will that translate to 50 dollar transactions once he aint winning anymore?
Bird your cheap debate tactics lately are horrible. Of course he has losses, but none since he became a house hold name. You understand the point.
Is this how we try to win debates over here?

| No one cared about him in the lower divisions when he got those losses. Since he's moved up and started dominating is when people started caring. If he losses something like 3 or 4 out of his next 5 or 6 fights he wont get anywhere near a million buys.
It's irrelevant though. Besides FMJ no one else will come close. |
