| Masoli tries to skirt the system by taking a class in Parks and Recreation in "hopes" of obtaining a Masters (Really, you can do that?) and falling under the graduate student transfer rule whereby he would be eligible this year, but he was denied by the NCAA. Ole Miss will now have to go with one of two freshman QB's because they weren't fooled by Masoli's ingenius scheme... It's a sad day in Mississippi... | |

| So the NCAA tosses a rule out the window when they feel like it to maintain whatever. I hate the NCAA and the sight of the four letters in a row makes me choke down bile. | |

| Disappointed, and still think they got this one wrong. Yes, I know that going by the letter of the rule he has a right to play. Masoli and whoever's doing his thinking attempted to circumvent a rule so that he could play ball and he got away with it, plain and simple. The rule states that there's a waiver that exists to provide relief to student-athletes who transfer for academic reasons to pursue graduate studies, not to avoid disciplinary measures at the previous university. If he was still at Oregon, he's not continuing on in any studies, less Parks & Rec (Well, maybe a ballroom dancing class a la Leinart). If he wasn't booted from Oregon, he certainly wasn't going to transfer to another school to pursue a graduate degree. So, he pleads down to avoid jail and Kelly boots him rather than just laying down a nice fat suspension and he runs out of state and claims that he wants to be a Park & Rec manager when he grows up. Him, Nutt and Boone laid on a thick layer of bullshit and the committee had no choice but to overturn due to letter of the rule. | |

and he was enrolled in another class at oregon He had to be in order to play post graduation. My point is that he wasn't interested in a "graduate degree" until he had to transfer to play ball again. Looking at Ole Miss though, he's not making a real difference on that team. They have high hopes and one upper-mid level player isn't fixing that team. Back to the point... The NCAA needs to fix the wording to that rule. Way too easy to get around that. | |
