One has to set the stage here a little bit.
The Professor, Azumah Nelson is 32 years old, 34-2-1 and defending his 130 pound strap. He has wins over fighters like HOFer Wilfredo Gomez, Marcos Villesana twice, Mario Martinez twice and Juan Laporte. His only losses are to ATG's Salvador Sanchez and Pernell Whittaker. He is already recognized as one of boxing's great active fighters and an exceptional boxing craftsman. In his last fight however he was muscled to the ropes for much of the fight, beaten to the punch often and was lucky to escape with a draw in Las Vegas. The man who did this to him? Unbeaten Australian Jeff Fenech.
Fenech has won straps already at 118 and 126, also has wins over Martinez and Villesana as well as over HOFer Carlos Zarate. He is a straight ahead punching machine who wins on volume punching, accuracy and sheer meanness in the ring. He has earned a return fight with Nelson in his home country. Fenech believes he won the first fight.
Azumah has claimed he was debilitated by Malaria for the first fight and this time it will be different. Fenech is on his home turf with the usual rabid Aussie support.
Two HOFers at work! Enjoy!

Jeff Fenech clearly won the 1st fight. All of Australia was pissed after he got robbed.

Sure, Fenech won the first fight, but Azumah made it all but obsolete after the 2nd fight. Nelson was great that night. One of my favorite fights, and I liked Fenech.

I always thought the malaria thing was bullshit. He sure made me rethink that with his performance in the second fight.
The ring announcer for the second fight was outstanding. He was babbling all kinds of incoherent shit when introducing the fighters. As I later found out, that was sort of his gimmick.
