marble thanks for the fine report..its time for calderon to say thats it and go out on top..yes even with a loss its still going out on top..if he lingers there will be other results like this.a 24 by 24 ring showed segura had the confidence he could slow calderon down ands agreed to a huge ring..this is what happens when a top quality boxer has no punch to keep the other guy honest..calderon has nothing that even resembles a stinging shot to keep you somewhat honest..a fine career is in the stage of conclution.i hope calderon realizes this as says its over.

Yup. As early as the second round Calderon was, believe it or not, "loading up" to try to land a shot that would back Segura off. I actually think he rattled Segura once, but the price he paid for going stationary is obvious.

Dougie Fischer does good work for ring (and before that maxboxing). To use a phrase he likes, Segura is "a card-carrying badass".
I believe last night Marble did make a post during the second or 3rd round saying that Iron Boy was loading up trying to land something big. I think my response (while not watching the fight), was that late in the fight I would hear something bad regarding one of my favorite fighters (Calderon).

Yup. Second round. You saw the final result of that choice a little before I did.

This will be Floyd's future if he doesn't face Manny soon.

That is going to be Floyd's future. If it isn't Pac, someone else will do that to him. He's wasting his career.

i dont know a word what the annouchers are saying but they sure as hell enjoyed the fight..based on these clips calderon took a beating especialy in the body..i dont see how you guys had him ahead 6-1 in rounds.of course its clips but darn the action favored heavy against calderon..the guy was non stop agressive and i dont feel that was a slip but a knockdown..he pounded calderon..

Dan Rafael (Mr. Twinkie) tweeted last night that Segura was behind when he stopped Calderon.

Well somebody has it wrong. The Colonel read off cards that had Segura well ahead. My scoring had it 6-1 with two close rounds for Calderon.

Thanks for the link Marble
Man Segura made sure he was going to get his fight, as soon as the bell rung, he charged Calderon set the pace for his fight
He's been on a tear since his loss to Canchilla, if he and Chocolatito Gonzalez hook up, oh man FOTY in the making IMO
And what can you about Calderon, true professional, just couldnt match Segura's aggression and power

Iron Boy needs to retire. He did all he could do in his career. The result would be worse the next time. His legs aren't there anymore. Segura is younger, bigger, and stronger. Calderon fought his ass off, but at 35 he didn't have the legs he had 3-4 years ago (when he would have been able to escape Segura's attack), nor the punch to keep Segura off of him.
Great career-time to call it a day.

I don't know if he has the desire or skill to teach. But if he does THAT dude knows more about craft, positioning, timing, counterpunching and distance control than 99.9999% of fighters today. He has a lot of wisdom he could pass along.
